Headed out to Big Break as suggested in previous reports. Was on the water at first light with totally flat conditions at the bottom 2 hours of outgoing tide. Saw lots of very small stripers busting everywhere but nothing of any size. I kept looking and watching for the birds and/or fish boils. Finally got into a good school way back in the grass in a small clearing. Partner and I caught 7 or 8 fish in a 10 minute span that were 5-9 pounders. What was most amazing to me was the water was only 2 feet deep. Incredible. Caught my first Lunker Punker fish and my partner caught his fish on a small hollow bodied swimbait. The top producer for me ws a SPRO BBZ fast sink shad swimbait. I burned it back until they swirled on it and then I would kill it. As soon as I moved it again, the hammered it.
Had a graet morning. Thanks for the info everyone. I hope this helps someone as you all have helped me.

Re: Sept 15th report
Sounds like a nice day Charles! Glad the info has helped. I'm headed out on thursday - they should still be there!
The swirling before they bite is typical for bigger fish. They like to stun their prey before eating...your technique was perfect!!!
Keep the info flowing!

No stripers for us today around the Bullfrog Marina area. Last few weeks, we would get into a few scattered fish. Nothing today. Not even the dinks.
Went elsewhere looking for LMB. Dang it! Might have to make the run to Big Break.

Re: Sept 15th report
definitely a good day of fishing.
that hit and hit again deal is too cool, had that happen a few times on topwater fish a few days back, fish came up and tail slapped the bait, let it sit for a few seconds, first movement of the lure was game over for that set-up! ha!
Actually, while trolling in past years, had several fish initially whack the lure, learned that when i throw the motor in neutral for a few seconds, then engage, some of those fish would come back and eat it.

We started our day as well in BB at 5:30am, but didn't find anything worth staying for so I ran to the Middle Delta before the sun made it up.
Second stop found em' on long tule points (both sides). All quality fish,
10-27#. All PUNKER fish. 22 fish total for the day. Throw in 2 largies both 6-7#.
There are a ton of small fish around you can catch on a pointer 110 or 5" swimbait, but the larger fish are keying on BIG baits, and they don't hesitate in killing em'.

Re: Sept 15th report
I finally picked up some lunker punker baits. I'll be heading out on Sunday looks like it will be pretty calm and I plan on launching out of Big Break and fishing Franks as well. Do you think i should launch out of Russos and spend most of my time in Franks? How will this hot incomming weather effect the fish. I'm running a small boat with a 25hp motor so it is a longer ride if I head out of BB. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
River

launch out of Sugar Barge this weekend. Russo's maybe swamped by National Guard guys pre-fishing, and I'd try the southeast side of Franks first thing.
