Pork or Plastic?
I have never really used a jig seriously outside of walleye fishing back in the midwest. I was wondering what colors, size, type to use on the delta. Also, when do you use a plastic trailer and when do you use pork? Thanks for any insight you could provide.
If I call in sick, I am probably on the Delta.
Re: Pork or Plastic?
After being here nearly a year, I can tell you the best jigs to use are the Wadda and Wadda Bomb jigs! Brown and purple and black and blue seem to be the best colors, and trailers will depend on the conditions. I've had great success with the purple Yamamoto double-tail with blue flecks, but on any given day the conditions will probably change.
Pork, IMHO, is for Winter cold-water conditions. Wadda Bombs work great with the big scampi saltwater trailers (7" double tail).

Re: Pork or Plastic?
if i am going to cover water with a jig or swim it, i will use a double tail grub. usually a yamamoto... it's what i like and sticking to.
BUT........... even in the summer, when i fish a jig and it's pitching or flipping, I used pork!

A number of things work, but most succesful trailer have twin arms like a crawdad and many times the arms float.
Pork tails can float, but not all do.
some trailers float or at least flutter.
The most popular trailer must be the yamamoto twin tail grub, but there are several brands.
Black, and Brown are very sucessful colors... right now I like brown with purple fleck with matching yamamoto trailer.
