Re: Anyone know if these motors are approved on DVL?
I believe they need to be HPDI
None of those motors are
new tech and are not approve.. More than likely you're gonna have to looks at 2002 or newer models.
HPDI is Yamaha and it is approved.
HPDI is Yamaha and it is approved.

Re: None of those motors are
All direct injected CARB rated 2 strokes and most 4 strokes are allowed. The problem is you can't launch without water.
Re: None of those motors are
Yea, water would definately help. So I should be fine then with the 99 opti right. Its direct injected. ???? I know the 00 opti is from seeing another persons boat with the MWD yellow sticker.
Simply put
if you have this decal on the outboard, then you're good to go.

All DFI and 4 strokes are good....
Re: Simply put
Not true... here are the guidelines:bigbass111 wrote:All DFI and 4 strokes are good....
Engine Requirements.
To be allowed onto the reservoirs, you’ll need the cleaner burning models that comply with California Air Resources Board emission standards for model year 2001 or later (or the equivalent 2006 standard set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency)
With the exception of personal watercraft, all four-cycle engines (regardless of year) are allowed on DVL and Lake Skinner.
If your engine is model year 2001 or later , and made by the following major marine engine manufacturers , it should comply:
* Johnson and Evinrude.
* Honda Motor Corp.
* Yamaha Motor Corp.
* Suzuki Motor Corp.
* Tohatsu Corp.
* Mercury Marine.
* Nissan Marine.
If you are still not sure look for the stars New technology engines (model year 2001 and later) have a one-to-three star decal showing they comply with emission standards. Or check for the label EPA-certified engines from 1998 to 2000 display an Emission Control Information label that shows it complies with 2001 (or later) California emission regulations for spark-ignition marine engines.
For supporting details, check the owner's manual or the manufacturer's Web site.
Here's a link to DVL's boat requirements page:
http://www.dvlake.com/inspection03.html
Be sure whatever you get will comply with the requirements, as their sticker inspection is very concise... no exceptions allowed.

I am pretty sure the stickers started in 1999 or 2000 with the Optis but stated the motor complied with the '01 guidelines.split172 wrote:If they all had that sticker it would be that easy guy. BUT those stickers started in 01.

AGAIN, all DFI's and 4 Stroke's....
And just so you know, all of those manufacture's since 2001 have been making EFI and carb motors. So not every motor manufactured after that time will work........

Re: Simply put
I can read just fine. Its the question if those motors are able to go on DVL. Obviously if it had the CA emission sticker it wouldn't be a problem. If I had the motor right in front of me to look at the specific EPA label, that might help. I was asking if anyone knows if the years stated are good to go. I have researched the sites given from the DVL page links and have not found my answer. I have some people say DFI's are good to go, then others say its not. Then I have douche bags saying I can't read,yet he doesn't know either. So thank you goes out to those trying to help. Sometimes in life, if you don't know the answer to something, its best just to say "I don't know.". That's a bit better than being an @ hole!

Re: Simply put
man you are one sad individual.. your feathers are so ruffled..
look
IS YOUR ENGINE A DFI? if you do not know what DFI is google it.
DID YOU CALL DVL TO ASK?
951-926-7201
MINE IS A 05 OPTIMAX... IT GETS ON ANY LAKE NO PROBLEM.
I never had to deal with this problem, if I did encounter this problem I wouldnt rely solely on this website to obtain your info.
Google your motor.. find your specs.. if you dont know your specs call Anglers Marine and ask anyone in the service department.
Then I would call DVL since they are the ones that do the inspections, not anyone on this board.
you are making this way harder than it needs to be.

Re: Simply put
just call the lake man.. they are there to help you. If you are purchasing a boat for the sole purpose of getting on DVL ( exactly what I did ) I highly suggest calling them and familiarizing yourself with what they need. They may have changed their allowances since 2005.

Re: Anyone know if these motors are approved on DVL?
When did they start allowing personal boats on the lake? Last I knew they would not allow any. If you wanted to use a boat it had to be one of their rentals. It has been a couple months since I have been so maybe they changed it.

Re: Anyone know if these motors are approved on DVL?
They are tentatively opening in feb-mar. Hopefully that date will stick. Thanks to Megan from last chance we may get on DVL with private boats again.
Re: Simply put
Per Jessica at DVL marina all DFI's are allowed. Exactly the same restrictions as before. Thanks bigbass for giving accurate info from the beginning.bigbass111 wrote:All DFI and 4 strokes are good....

Re: Simply put
I guess all these years of selling boats helped me get something right!!!!
Just so your more informed, DFI stands for "Direct Fuel Injection". The 2 stroke Mercury's that are not allowed say EFI or XR6.
The EFI is Electronic Fuel Injection and the XR6 is Carborated... All 4 strokes and DFI motors from the other manufactures are good for DVL as well.

Thanks for the info. I am familiar with DFI, just wasn't sure if the earlier opti's were DV approved. Thanks again for the correct, straight forward, and direct answer.

Re: Anyone know if these motors are approved on DVL?
It is about time they started adding water. Although I am sure they have a good reason for lowering the level (Zebra Mussels). That means the good shore fishing spots will be back underwater again. Yeah! Hopefully DV will back to the way it used to be in time.
I am glad for the guys that have boats, that they will start allowing them again. Great news! Although I don't have a boat
