I snapped a 702, but under Lamiglas warranty they will not be able to repair this type of break and are offering 70% off any new rod. Any suggestions or thoughts. Something versatile, small/med.swimbaits or spinners.

At 70% off, you'll only pay around $65 for a rod versus $220. Still a bargain with the way the economy is going. If you stay with Lamiglas, I would go with the XCF705. I use that rod for lipless crankbaits and spinnerbaits.
If I break a rod that was my fault, I feel lucky that I can get a new rod at a reduced price.

What is the rod#? XPS702X for example. A 2 power rod is too light, IMO, for what you are using it for; spinnerbaits and small swimbaits. look at 3 or 4 power.
Did you send the rod back for replacement, take it back to a dealer or call? Lamiglas customer service is excellent.
See if they will trade you straight across for the Excel series.

Re: Lamiglas info/opinion
Wierd responses, I've heard nothing but complaints on Lamiglas' rod warranty.
I will say that their rod blank warranty is bar none, $15 = brand new blank, plus I salvage pieces off the broken one and viola, newly built rod for about $25.
To answer your question, yeah go with something in a 4 power, good all-around rod for spinnerbaits, worms, jigs , small swimbaits, etc.

Yes the service/warranty at Lamiglas is excellent and at 70% off any rod in their line who can complain. I was not using the 702 for spinnerbaits or cranks, but am in need of a good small swimbait or cranking/spinner stick and even a strong lipless rod for the delta. Thanks for your help.

Warranty issues can be a problem with some rod makers, Ive never had a problem with Lamiglas. Barbara the customer service gal and John Posey support their product second to none in this industry.
If you break a rod due to manufacturer flaw, no questions asked, it's replaced. If you damage a rod; step on it, close it a rod locker, car door, smash it against a dock, whatever, it will cost you shipping, handling and replacement cost, if they still have the rod in stock. What more can you ask of any rod maker? Loomis charges for shipping and handling on warranty issues and so does every other rod maker who warrants their product for life time.
I'm not sponsored by anyone for any product, but I lnow who stands behind their products and recommend those companies.
