Do you...........

Post by bigjosh15 »

Do any of you save line????? I know alot of people who save line that they pull of to put something else on like braid, or fluoro, if they have mono on..... But I am not talking about saving line if it is bad, I am talking about if you have mono on for a little bit then need braid on. Do any of you save it for something else, or do you just throw it away????? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

I save depending on the age, condition and type of line.

I save braid and reuse it as long as it isnt frayed. I normally get rid of the mono. If its recently spooled flouro sometimes i will save some for leaders. In general I believe its best to have new mono, copoly, or fluoro on the reels. Braid last a long time.

Since I use braid exclusively, I save some of my old line for non-fishing purposes. Doing odd jobs around the house - re-stringing wind chimes, using line instead of string when I need to tie things, etc.

I toss almost all of my line when I change it. Ultimately, Its probably been on there long enough or there was some reason I didn't like the line in the first place.

I try to put the line in a can or container so it doesnt just lay around and kill birds and stuff when in in the dump.

The folks at Fisherman's Warehouse will take your old line, as long as it isn't a huge amount. They send it off for recycling.
I save mine in a plastic bag and take it down to them whenever I'm going by there.
I imagine many of the other shops will it for you as well.
