Harvey Naslund back as WON BASS director

SAN CLEMENTE — Saying he wants to get back to the basics of growing the sport of tournament bass fishing, Harvey Naslund has agreed to once more take the reins of the WON BASS circuit, announced Western Outdoors President/CEO Bob Twilegar.
This will be the third time Naslund has been in charge of the top bass fishing tournament organization in the West and he admits the challenges have never been greater. Naslund says the answer to those challenges is to increase participation in the sport at a grassroots level.

“We’re going to support bass fishing from the bass club level on up with everything from first timer certificates to the exposure offered by Western Outdoor News, wonews.com, wonbass.com and our WON BASS publication,â€

That should also mean....
Teams, Pro-Ams and the US Open.
Seems like folks wanted WON to get back to what it was....
This seems to be a step in the right direction.

Looking forward to working with you Harvey. This is a great move for WON and I'm sure he's going to shake things up which will result in better overall events for the guys. Great choice Bob!

Finally someone who KNOWS Bass fishing and how to run bass tournaments for bass fisherman.. no disrespect to the last director, but Harvey always greets anglers as though he likes you and never has a bad day..and somehow he remembers everyones names...someone might not be a big name angler but he doesn't treat you that way, doesn't play favorites.

GREAT CHOICE, finally someone older than me..

No disrespect to anyone else but Harvey was the best. Now get Bev Payne and Pat Howard out of retirement and you finally got a real circuit.

A Note from WON Bass on Bev Payne

Post by JJCJR »

We have it on good authority that Bev Payne will rejoined the WON BASS Pro Circuit staff.

I believe Bev enjoys Lawry's and not necessarily for the creamed spinach!

One step at a time guys & gals....

Harvey I'm going to tell you the same thing I told Larry Viv last year. Bass fishermen and times have changed, a lot. I hope you are tougher than you were at the Open this year :D As I recall, you only lasted a day :D

Best of luck, you might need it :D :D The steering committee is a good idea. They had a good crew at the Open.
