Re: Striper Material?
I looked through a fishing lure ID & Price Guide that my mother too gave me. I found nothing in here about that lure. I would say let em tear it up!
If I call in sick, I am probably on the Delta.

What Stripers? you know what I mean
Re: Striper Material?
The box and the lure do not match. Take look at the body of the lure and see if there is any lettering as the wobbler is a crank bait and this one looks a lot like a beat up pencil popper.
Careful, I have sold lures for nearly $100.00 on Ebay. You may have a vintage something or another. On the other hand it can be just an old beat up pencil popper. On other hand, the color maybe rare...
I wouldn't thrash it quite yet.

In the beginning, there was nothing, then suddenly there was something, then it exploded and turned into everything in the universe, all by itself. OR In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth.

I doubt it's worth a great deal but I would guess it's 30+ years old because of the glitter.
Re: Striper Material?
That bait is a Stan Gibbs Pencil Popper circa 1970 something. We used to sell those at Sport Fishing Center back in the day. Really good lure. Randy Pringles Big Stick looks similar, with updated colors. I say feed it to the stripers!

Not worth much now just put in a box and let it sit... 30 more years your kids can sell it on e bay.... IMA has a similar bait, and soon Paycheck will as well...

Thanks for the info everyone. Its wood and weighs somewhere between 1-2 oz. Thinkin bout it now, the hooks and hardware look pretty old so i dont think i want to take the chance on breakin a fish off. Rich, we'll see. Have to think about it.
Re: Striper Material?
As Mike said, that's a Gibb's pencil popper. But it's not old or rare. I bought a couple in that exact color this year; it's a favorite at the beach. You can usually find them at Gus' in San Francisco, when they're not sold out.
