I have had good luck with 17lb P-Line 100% fluoro. (I mostly fish spotted bass lakes) At clear lake I use 20lb maxima ultra green for the baits you mentioned.

My swimbait rod is equipped with 50lb Braid and about 10 feet of 25lb Seguar blue label clear flourocarbon leader.

Hope that helps.

Like Chief said 20 lb. Max. I have never lost a fish on it and I know the Chief likes to throw the big stuff.

20 lb green Big Game casts good, has low memory in cold weather. FC lines work OK, have less knot stretch, tend to take a permanet set and weaken after a few hours of casting.
Gin clear water with bright high sky, FC line might make a difference, otherwise premium mono works good for swimbaits.

everything everyone has mentioned will work great, however. If you are fishing a body of water with large stripers you will need to step up to 30lb mono or straight braid. When you hook a 20lb + striper and they start doing the death roll that gill plate will gut through 20lb like thread.

I have lost many big baits to stripers... luckily some float when they get thrown.
Create your own luck.

Don't let it get to you. Our western highly pressured lakes are nearly gin clear drinking water in most of the trophy bass lakes with planted trout populations. Most of the swimbaiters started out with FC line thinking it would offer an advantage and it may under some conditions, but rarely. FC line isn't as easy to cast as a premium momo; has less knot strength and takes a permant set after stretching, weakening the line. For those reasons most swimbaiters today use a premium mono and may go to FC if mono isn't getting strikes.
Trilene Big Game (green) is inexpensive, you can respool every other outing and be assured your line is not going to fail. All the other lines are good choices, take your pick. Good luck.

what I have learned with the flouro lines is if you use a #5 ROF Huddleston it helps keep the bait lower in the water column and can make a difference when using that bait. if you are fishing topwater swimbaits go with straight 25lb mono.. Maxima ultra green is my favorite but Big Game and Izorline's are great as well.

Swimbaits are a reaction bite and those fish don't seem to mind whether is mono or flouro...never seen an increase in bites due to going flouro.

Again...to me the flouro is nice if you want to keep a Huddleston ROF 5 deeper in the water and so on.

I dont use mono anymore. FC line is so much more sensitive, i can tell the difference between a rock, tree, sand, and a fishes mouth. With Mono you have half the feel you do with fluoro. Just feels like im winding in a rubberband. The big girls seem to have more of a tick bite. The 5 to 8lbers about pull the rod out of your hand. Those ticks are hard to detect when pounding bottom with every turn of the handle. Both will work fine but FC does have its advantages. So does mono. i just dont see the advantages with mono being very helpful. for what i do with a Hud. 25 lb test all the way. I use evergreen fluoro but thats just me. all will work.
