Marty, you have put up some absolute gems of "how-to's" and cool ideas before but honestly, that looks like garbage. Perhaps it's acceptable for the quick on-the-water fix, but either way, you should be ashamed for wrapping electricians tape on a what looks to be a Shimano Cumara![]()
Why not just hit up a rod building supplier and buy a new hook keeper for a dollar (whichever style you prefer) and wrap it on with some thread that you either buy or steal from the wife's sewing machine, fling some Flexcoat over it and you got a professional looking hook keeper, WITH NO ELECTRICAL TAPE REQUIRED.
And yes, the holiday season brings out the best in me

good idea.
I just use one of my chicks hair tie things. Works like a charm.

OK I am going to spill the beans.
i stole one of my wifes Rubber bands for her hair - I double it up and slide it on the rod handle and place the sinker in between. That way I can slide it forward or backward depending on the length. This has been working for me for years....

Marty. Do not do that, just do as most of us do with some (as you mention) we just do not open and read their post's. So they are blowing into the wind, so to speak..

Well, to be fair, he actually did:
Just a little sensitive my Brotha? Thanks for the idea, but it certainly wasn't one of the more polished ones. Also, during the heat of the summer that electrical tape will loosen and make a mess, I'm afraid to say.
You should try adding a keeper as he suggested - if you don't feel comfortable with it stop by some time and I'll show you on one of mine with some rod-wrapping thread - it is cheap and effective.
I'll give you an A+ for effort and innovation though - especially given the pretty pink cap you used!

It really is a simple thing to do, and should look very good if you just take a little bit of time with it and get some complimentary-colored thread.

Thanks for the defense Tuna!
Yes, in part it my post may have been offensive, but I like to think of it more along the lines of "aggressively suggestive and inspirational"
Seriously Marty, for the same price as the highlighter and the roll of electrical tape, you could have a nice Pac Bay Drop Shot keeper on your rod, that would look professional and last forever.

I figured out the same thing and they work perfect. First used rubber bands but they dry out from the sun to fast and break, went to those stretchy things after thinking they would last a bit longer, and they do.ash wrote:OK I am going to spill the beans.

What's worse Marty the blow hole doesn't suggest a hint of an apology. You do have to ignore the ignorant and stay constructive with what you do. Many of us appreicate them. I bet if would have started off by the statement, "That is a great idea, perhaps I can suggest this for improvement...."
