Any ol' Timers know anything about this reel?

Post by cib11b »

My grams just gave me an old fishing reel. It is a Langley streamlite model 312 casting reel. It is in very good condition even has it's original box and bag it came in. Pretty cool, anyone got any info on it? A little different then what I am use to...

The Langley Streamlite 312 differs from the much more common 310 only in having a solid spool arbor as opposed to the 3/4 inch ventilated spool of the 310. The Streamlite 311, with a 15/16 inch ventilated spool arbor rounds out the series. The 312's solid arbor was designed for monofilament line, but was an inferior casting reel to the ventilated arbor models, which acted to counter backlashes. The KB designation was produced around 1947 and should have a screw (as opposed to a nut) holding the handle on. Many of the KB models have poor (thin) anodizing, leading to discoloration of the end plates. The KC models were produced from about 1948 to 1952. Colectability depends greatly on condition, although these reels were mass produced, examples in excellent condition are infrequently found and usually sell in the $20-40 range
