I apologize to everyone who tuned it to watch it. I have two different broadband connections and neither were worth a darn. I walked the entire parking lot checking the signals for both broadbands and found a poor signal in one area. We used that as best we could. I am not sure but, as more people came to the weigh in and got on the phone it bogged down the connection and killed the video. I can assure you this will not be the case for most of the events. DVL is a great lake and the staff was great as well as the DFG was great. More on that in the future - but, for now - I want to thank them all for their hard work.

With no rain and not being cramped in a small tent - we got the sound right this time - but, the connection was terrible. Most lakes won't have this problem.

Overall the event was great.

Thanks again and I am sure it will be considerably better in the future.

he pulled up and had his 1st limit before I even had 1 rod out and uncovered think it was something like 13 fish in 17 casts, nothing like knowing someone has 15 plus lbs in the well before you even start the day off

Like I say GREAT JOB Guy, your on a roll  8)

Thanks everyone for the congrats!! I was jacked up for this tourney all week. All I hoped for was to qualify to the next round, all week that's what I was thinking. I came into this thing with a "time to kill" attitude and it just worked out. I didn't want to get into the mind set of "the top 10 qualify". It worked out!! On to the next round. Congrats to the other top 10 qualifiers and see you guy's in the semi's. Also, thanks Hippie for helping some of us out at the end of the day. The cheese option was spent at Red Lobster last night for family night, mama's sid thanks for the meal.

Tom, great event!! Tom and his staff did a great job. I was very impressed to say the least. They worked their A$$ off for us from morning through to the end of the day. Tom's dad was driving us up and down the ramp to save all the time and work of walking the ramp, thanks Tom's dad(sorry didn't get his name). Tom and his other staff guy(sorry again for not catching is name too) was working hard to get the boats off the trailers and tied up on the docks safely. It went smoother than I thought it would go, DVL has the docks very close to each other which makes it worse than most lakes I've been to. But they got it handled with no problems that I heard of. If anyone is on the fence about fishing the CBC, hop on over and have a great time. You will not be disapointed.

You might want to enter HBC-6 before you buy that bait, John - There are only eight Angler spots left. Not sure what you're waiting for, but you are taking a mighty big gamble.

I had 3 fish.. A 4 1/2 lber, and two 3 lbers...so I had about 10 1/2 lbs.. I pulled out of the weigh in line when I counted that there were over 10 weights over 11 lbs.. And I knew for sure I didnt have over 11 lbs.. I got the right bites but didnt execute on the last 2 bites...

Keep throwing those fish back John.. It will bite you in the @$$ one day.. WATCH

BTW..Most guys do it because "you never know" what other guys have caught, you also do it for "points" and lastly for PRIDE

Some tournament trails have points associated with AOY's, Championships etc. Perfect reason to weigh in less than 5 fish.

Well in the CBC its not a point race. If you are only catching 1 or 2 fish you can kiss any chance at an AOY good bye as well as year end championship. As far as pride goes, there's nothing prideful about weighing in two fish for me. If you are fishing these just as a measuring stick then write down your weight and check the standings later on. Its better for everyone, the fish , the line, the staff that has been there since 4am.. the people that work at the lake who are trying to get home and eat dinner and see their families. Why do you think we have a mandatory 2:30pm weigh in now instead of 3pm, because the lake is complaining that they are not closing when they should.

Yes i know. My partner and I have won two AOY's out there. I am familiar with the points system. This is isnt lake Perris, 2 fish is never going to get you paid at DVL in a 40 boat derby. If you are not bringing in at least 13lbs to the scales you are wasting everyones time in my opinion. There has been plenty of time we have had big sacks and have watched guys weigh in 2 fish. I personally hate keeping big fish in the live well and wouldnt risk a big fish's health on Pride.

I am not saying my way is the right way, I just was curious to hear some of the reasons why people do it. Thanks for your input.

In this events case there was NO REASON for me to waste time weighing in less than 11 lbs because I looked at the leader board and there were clearly more than 10 people who weighed more than 11 lbs.. AND ONLY THE TOP 10 QUAlLIFIED...

No reason for me to take up air time that someone behind me with more weight could potentially use.. I didnt care to see my name anywhere but in the top 10.. 11th or 39th...none of us qualified ...and as far as pride goes.... If finishing outside the top 10 does something about pride then its time to set your standards a little higher...
Finishing in the top ten is what this event was all about...

Why would you insult someone for weighing there fish. They paid there money to fish they had a bad day. they want to weigh in. you never know what could happen. i think about 3 or 4 years ago Guy and I won a tournament at the DIAMOND with 13 pounds. You never know what could happen.
Second of all some guys are proud of there catch don't belittle them. All I see is you posting and saying you caught all this weight and your going to dominate cause you fished DV while it was closed . Im prefishing Havasu for a week im this im that BLAH BLAH BLAH. structure scan this john .don't insult people here cause its bass fishing and I havent seen you in the money yet this year. well spring its anybodies ball game thats when the big girls are up. so maybe your luck will change. Pete im only messing with you it sounded extremely tough out there and the guys that caught fishg should be stoked.

Tell that to Shaw Grigsby who weighed a little more than 18 pounds for the entire first Elite Series tournament in 09(finishing in 91st place), but still qualified for the 2010 classic.

Keep throwin' those fish away, John. I for one will always bring what I have to the scales, whether its one fish or five. If it was something like the CBC, I would've done exactly what Pete did. But your comments of "never" weighing your fish unless you have a big limit, is absolutely absurd. Being the "seasoned" tournament angler that you are, I would've figured that you've seen days on the lake/river that are just plain tough for everyone. You never know how LITTLE it might take to win...THAT is why I'll never throw my fish away.

Andy
To answer your question. No you may not have my autograph.

Yes I have seen tough days, everyone has. So when you have 1 fish and everyone else in line is asking for 5 bags you are going to hold up the line for your one fish? I can see if its one HUGE fish and you think you got a shot at big fish, but other than that I just think its dumb.

where did I say never weigh your fish in unless you have a big bag? I said if you dont have 13lbs you are wasting your time. The team circuits try their hardest to get every one to the fish off as they can. That is why if you dont qualify for the fish off thru the regular season they offer a chance to get into the fish off thru the summer night series. The summer night series (normaly) take the top 30% who fished atleast 3 derbies and have not already qualified .. well guess what. The guys that will be fishin the night derbies are the same guys who fished all season long. If you really want to make the fish off and are struggling to make the regular season cut, well you can easily make it thru the night series.

with that being said if you want to hold up the line with one fish, that is your right to. You paid the money to fish then by all means weigh in. I for one see it differently. You sure are a senstive one, you should change your name to Sandy.

There is plenty of ways to "make it" to the fish off. So spare me the this is the elite series jive. Thats just silly.

Hey Curry since you grew up fishing the sandiego lakes you should fish the next cbc tournies you will probably qualify for regionals. I bet the regionals will be somewhere close in san diego so you'll probably dominate. then you can go to Clear lake and ruin everyones day. Cause shoot you killed them at Clear lake on your birthday. damnb 20,000 bucks can go along way. I bet them Northern guys have no chance if you made it

I work Fridays or I would have done the DVL one. just because I smoked them one day in July doesnt mean chit. That lakes fun. I dig that lake.

Buying a home, getting married and running my own business is def cutting into my fishing time lately and it shows.
