Red River Tour event cancelled

Just got a text from a buddy that FLW cancelled the event at Red river. It has been raining and cold. The water was too hazardous even for the Coast Guard to put their boats out. A few anglers complained and FLW pulled the event. Everybody is heading home. Tough deal for our West Coast army but it could have been worse if we lost an angler with no Coast Guard to help.

Yes, the anglers got in a huge group and confronted FLW. It was an intense meeting. The river is flowing 12 to 14 miles per hour and on the rise. The bite has also been terrible, most pros getting 1 to 2 bites over the 3 days. I feel bad for our west coast guys who took the Money and time to drive out there for this tournament.

The move reduces the 2010 season to a five-event circuit and pro entry fees will be rolled over to cover the final event at Lake Guntersville in June.

That sucks! Why not roll it to the next event?

I have some video of it transpiring. David Dudley is the man, that's all i've got to say. Thought he might punch charlie evans.

Some guys even said they'd forfeit the 4k because it was unsafe.

Reading on Bassfan it sounds like there were anglers on both sides of the issue. And FLW erred on the side of caution...

After the safety problems at the recent Falcon event they may be trying to tighten the belt a little. They probably saw this comming, I live in East Dallas not far from the Red River and we have had 2 months of solid rain and hard freezes. It is supposed to snow tommorow too. It stinks!

Bad time of year to fish a major river, needed a back up plan for a not too distant lake but a major freeze would have shut that down as well thats why they always start in Florida but the south Florida fishing isn't so good anymore perhaps March would have a better start for the tour.
