They found a tumor on my father in laws liver last night. Its about to the size of a baseball. They are running more tests today to determine if he has any chance of beating this thing. Its spreading at a very rapid rate.

Man when it rains it pours. 2010 has been one gigantic **** storm after another. I have already had to lay two family members to rest and now this. Come on now big guy up there let up a bit.

It really is true, when it rains it pours. My best friend was killed a few months ago, my grandfather who introduced me to fishing and taught me how, went in for a triple bypass, and removal of half of his left lung due to cancer two weeks ago (which has spread to his lymph nodes), the surgery went ok, but he had a massive stroke about 8 hours after surgery, permanently debilitating the entire left side of his body, and will most likely never recover. On top of this, we'll be putting my childhood basset hound to sleep within the next week or two. No bueno.

It all really sucks, but it's one of those things in life that really make you realize how great living really is, and how important friends and family are.

I know how you feel. My family has gone through the same storm in the last 12 months. My father-in-law suffered a fatal heart attack in January 2009 and my mother-in-law died of cancer in June. In October, my brother-in-law, John, called me to tell me that he had an aggressive form of prostrate cancer and the next day, my other brother-in-law, Barry, died suddenly. John had surgery to remove the cancer and it appears that they got it all. Only time will tell.

My family is going through this with my mom. She started with colon cancer they removed it and everything looked fine until they did a MRI on her organs they found a large mass in her liver. We are going through chemo and things look good to this point with the cancer shrinking and her feeling better. They say it "wont save her but will prolong her life" I cant tell you what toll this has put on my family financially and emotionally BRUTAL....
I will pray for you and yours. I am very sorry that you are going through this.

Thanks everyone. It was a long night.Its a 17cm mass wrapped around his liver, its inoperable. Morphine does nothing for his pain. Hospice is the best they can do. The Biopsy is in a few hours. Hopefully everything goes well.
