Blade-Runner Swim Bait Insert

Post by Micropterus salmoides »

Used with 5-6" Basstrix Paddle Tails are the Blade-Runner inserts fine for working them along the bottom with chunk rock, sparse wood without getting hung up frequently or would I be better off going with a weedless hook? For the 5" and 6" Basstrix is the 5/0 Blade-Runner ideal?

The Blade Runner Inserts work great for bottom bouncing in that type of cover, I haven't had many snags with them. The 5/0 hook is big though, I usually use a 4/0 for the 6" and even a 3/0 will fit fine. The hook rides right at the top of the bait so it takes less hook than you expect.

gunnie2, The fact that you copied my insert must mean that it works pretty good. You might want to think twice about advertizing that fact.
Oh well, at least it's still being made in the USA.

The mold maker changed it just enough so it wasn't a 100% copy of the lead body. In fact its better in IMO. The reason behind the mold was "yours" doesn't come in the weights that complement the appropriate hook size. All I did was make some changes to improve the fuctionality. Flame and threaten all you want, I won't apologize for anything. I just never bought the wire bender to use it much. Its brand new and if anyone wants it let me know.
