another boat insurance ?

Post by kane-o »

i have an older boat, probably worth $7000, but i have about $3000 worth of tackle on board... whats the best way to make sure i can get coverage on not only the boat, but the contents.... i currently have my boat insurance thru our homeowners company.... i think im insured for $6000. on the boat and like $1500 for the contents... but have upgraded the electronics, and done a bunch of work on the boat.. so i know im under insured, and will need to upgrade my policy with someone.... any ideas.. thanks guys

You can insure up to $10,000 in contents for the boat. The electronics become permanent fixtures to the boat and can be considered in the total value of the boat.

Your tackle is also covered under your homeowners policy for personal property. If there is a loss such as a theft to the tackle, then you would pay the homeowners deductible and can get the tackle replaced.

There are many people on here who have their favorite insurance company. I would look at packaging all the insurance with one carrier, or look at one of the many that are apart of this site.

Let me know if you have any questions.
