WHO CAN TELL ME WITH NEW BOYSEN REEDS WHY I KEEP....

SUCKING REEDS........... 3 SETS IN ABOUT 4 MONTHS...... AT FIRST I THOUGHT I WAS HOT RODING IT.... BUT I HAVE BEEN CRUSING FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS AND ITS STILL HAPPENING........

IS IT THE HOT FOOT...... HARD ON THROTTLE ....... CARBON FIBER REEDS SHOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE BOTH OF THOSE PROBLEMS.....

DOES MY OPTI RUN TO LEAN FOR THE BOYSEN REEDS SHOULD I RICHEN UP MY FUEL MIXTURE......


HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM TIRED OF CHANGEING REEDS.........

Boysen's are fiberglass, not carbon fiber. There was a problem before with the reed plate having a sharp edge and cutting the reed petals off. You might want to look into that...

Im purty sure your suposed to take the reed plate off with boyseens. I never liked them in bikes but there rad valve made it worth replaceing them every month or so.

I agree...you may want to have phil at C&C check it out. He knows a ton about motors and I have been completely satisfied with his work and knowledge in all the years that I have dealt with him...it could just be worth the drive.

I heard that the reeds for the XS motors are actually made by Boyesen. I've been running them in my old 200 EFI I had built by Simon Motorsports a while back, no issues at all. Last I checked I had over 200 hours on my reeds. Maybe give Eric Simon a call, I know he's been doing a lot of work with the Optis in recent years.

Performance but at what cost? Reminds me of a friend who spent 2000k plus on a lift kit on a great GMC 4wd Dura max all options special order truck and screwed it up too high, wore out the hubs and tires to early should have left good enough alone..

talked to a merc tech and he said you're over rev ing motor. usually caused with the hot foot and while in netural
