Are any of you wearing the UV Buff, and if so how do you like them? How comfortable are they in hot weather? I was thinking of trying one.

EDIT: Changed the link to official site as I had a retail store located in Australia which showed AU prices. Thanks to Morgan.

Re: UV Buff
The best thing since sliced bread!!
I wear them pretty much all the time (like a bandana under my hat). It's really nice to pull down over the ears on those sunny days, or use two of them and make a full fledged mask when making runs or just to look cool!
They aren't cheap, but they last forever.

Re: UV Buff
They are AWESOME, I dont fish without them now, that glare from the water on a bluebird day burns your face pretty bad with this you stay cool in hot weather and warm in the cold.
I got mine @ bass pro shop for $23. But I also bought some knockoffs on ebay for $5 and they are just as good for a backup in the boat just in case if I forget mine.

Re: UV Buff
When I saw them on the official site I kind of balked at the $40 price, but I also saw them at BPS for $23. That's a little easier to swallow.
Does color really make a difference in how comfortable they are? For example, do the darker colors absorb sunlight more making them hotter? What color are you using?

Re: UV Buff
I just received mine. Havn't had a chance to use it yet. Go to their website and check out the videos. The way they twist them and fold them tell a lot more than the package.

Also, do you guys wear summer gloves? I'm thinking - keeping the suntan lotion off the hands so the fish can't detect may be an advantage? I see Shaw Grigsby using them. Or, are they a bother?

Re: UV Buff
LOVE BUFFS! Here in Florida tons of flats guys wear them. I've been wearing the regular, then the UV buffs for quite awhile now. It's great not having to wear sunscreen on your face and you feel great after a long day on the water. I also wear SPF long sleeves, pants, and sungloves.....my favorite being the Dr Shade ones from TackleWarehouse. I am surprised more bass guys don't wear Buffs. Skin cancer is serious business. Seeing Byron Velvick wearing one at Clear Lake might open up some guys' eyes!

Re: UV Buff
...As much as I have thought this in the past on some T.V. shows for just Florida/BaHa/Playa/Cozumel fishing type of Tool to help prevent skin cancer. I am in need of one now for DeltaLuke.
We have been doing sort of well with alot of SPF 60/80 and fish oil and such in the past - but running and him driving the boat - he can not wear a hat that can risk being lost. As "his" hat's are running about $36+ now !
No Chit !!
I may need to back up here .......... I have no clue if anyone here on the web know's it .... But DeltaLuke has some (plural) auto immune disorders attacking his body. For what reason not even the high up's for Kaiser can give a clear answer of no matter how far and up/over the sea's they send his tissue samples to.
One auto-immune disorder is enoufgh ... But unfortunately Luke has two ...and some other mojo going on at the same time.
Alopecia Totalis- Total loss of body hair including eyebeows and eyelashes more than likely forever.
Renards Disease- His body goes into "Core Preservation Mode" when ever his extremities get cold .... and is like Hypothermia to him where he can not even have any brain function..... Even when it is 55 F outside w/o protection with wool gloves .... or even just a sudden/severe change in weather happens to the cooler side.
Rumatoids Factor "highly elevated" - Not yet "Rumatoid Arthritis" as of yet MOST THANKFULLY !! -- but the pains for a 148 blood test are already developing in his back. The Medications (mostly Steroids) are nothing at all you want to give to a Teen for any reason ... or a normal person as well for that matter ! And it is way worse to have a teen take that route that an adult before the age 22-25.
Lupis can not be really tested for a posotive as a co-inhibotor. ..... Or even a posotive test itself for any real test as of yet as there is no testing for it that can really be conslusive.
I can tell you of ALL of the "the other test" that we can research and have more blood drawn from the web research, the on-lime communities, the Bro's like BassBones with beating and proclaming a champion in a disorder that we could link to both inteligently, bodily and common sensly...... Unfortunately for us- all those other test all came up Negative as well. But those suck the most actuall. - Because if there one at least posotive in any of those test - we could at least have a starting point to go from !
Utterly Frustrating Now ... and Thanks again to all for the Help, Prayer and Support in this journey that Luke is upon now.
A product like this could really work for DeltaLuke on the water this summer. and thanks for posting the link M.S ! .... Cause if we were "Normal" .....I could of never given two chits about it.... And thought if honestly as hype again from the BASS Tour here in CA !!
The Shoe is definately on a different foot now for our family.... I guess you can say. We will really look into it - and have Luke pick out something for a desighn that he would want to wear for himself while on the water this summer.
I don't know if he knows it - By my BIG fear now is skin cancer as he already has quite a few liver spots on his head. -- Prolly something you would never notice from a person with hair ... but even more so from a teen w/o it.
Chit Happens,
Always,
Dan

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Re: UV Buff
Dan,
Have they checked his Thyroid, also have they checked for fibromyalgia.
I went through some shaky times a few years back and it was all related to a screwed up Thyroid. This is not usually checked for young men but is becoming more prevelent. Then I fell hit the back of my head and it triggered Fibromyalgia. Through medication, quit smoking five or six years ago, started swimming olympic laps for an hour and a half a day 5 - 6 days a week I have made a huge recovery.
I wish Luke well...................
