Shore Fishing the Delta area

Post by LiverBass »

Hey,

I just moved up here to the central valley. For the next 5-6 months or so I will be without my boat.

I'm looking to get my feet wet by fishing the Delta area and surrounding lakes but it will be from the shore (I have a couple kids with me).

Where are the best bets for fishing the Delta around Tracy?

Or other lakes like McClure, Pedro, etc....

Thanks in advance!

Whiskey Slough has more than enough access as does Italian/Clifton Ct Forebay. Both should have some good ones to

You can walk most of the bank around Italian Slough just go over the little bridge by the Lazy M marina.... Whiskey Slough has easy bank acess,,you can also fish the eastern end of Victoria Canal and part of Middle River bank by taking Cal Pack Rd out to the levee,, or head over to Holly Sugar and walk the creek out to Sugar Cut,, lots of bank there too you njust have to climb down to get to some spots............ just a few placed to try and there are plenty of others.

I haven't fished the Tracy area from bank yet, but I have hit the Whiskey & Trapper Slough area. That'll give you a lot of water to cover.

As for the lakes, I know McClure and Pedro are pretty much a straight shot east from where you are, but if you don't mind a slight detour and a little longer drive, I think you'd like trying New Melones. It has a TON of bank access and diverse types of structure to fish.
