LMS480 Question about mapping...help

Post by Zak Elrite »

Hey Guys, I have a LMS 480 and have read this dang manual but it just doesn't seem to be sinking in. I try to get a map view of where I am(on he river for example) and it gives me some way un-zoomed(far away) view. Can't get the view I think I should get (or the view I've seen on others) Aside from buying a new unit(HDS-5 or better), would a new chip(card) make a difference? The unit is from 2005 and I would like to wait to buy a new unit. The sonar is fine, just can't get the hang of this GPS.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Zak Elrite

If you don't have the most current version of the "Freedom Map" chip for the West Coast region, your GPS won't be as accurate. Call Alan at the FW in Sac. He'll hook you up.

Zak, give me a call when you get a chance. I got the same unit and my mapping works good.
