Boater missing, presumed drowned in Delta

OAKLEY — The Contra Costa Sheriff's Office late Thursday was searching for a 48-year-old man presumed drowned off Bethel Island.
The sheriff's office was alerted at 8:55 p.m. that the victim and another person were in an aluminum boat near the 2300 block of Dutch Slough Road and the boat was taking on water, sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
The second person reported that the victim went under and did not resurface.
The agency was using a helicopter and a boat to search the water for the victim.
