Re: Poll: What line for each bait??
Splitshot, Mojo, dartheads, etc, 8 pound Silver Thread.
Cranking, topwater, rip, 10 to 12 pound Big Game. If I can get away with more, I might cranking. That would have to be a shallow crank, or making a deep diver go less depending on cover, etc.
Worming gets 15 pound Big Game, or 20 if I can use my flipper, or just get away with it. Carol gets 15, footballs get 15 to 20.
Spoons, 10, 12, 15, 20 BG.
Frogs, 30 Iron thread, (Discontinued and tough to find.) Or 50 pound Spiderwire.
Blades and Buzzers, 20 BG.
Watson's Wrat, 20 BG.
Zara, or bigger walkers, trout baits or big jointed affairs, 20 pound BG.
Nights at Amador, 17 pound Stren Flourescent.
Flipper 20 pound BG.
Pretty much, I am behind the times using so much mono. But I found out during the braid/fusion explosion that it takes time and adjustment to fish the new high tech stuff. And I personally have an excitement factor that mono tends to soak up! Farting around with the different things, helped me realize there are good things about the "old" stuff. And for that matter copolymers like Mc Coy etc.

Well...
Before I dig in I must say that of course my line weight and type will depend on what water Im fishing. So one set of choices will be for Shallow stained-muddy water and the other for deep clear water. One typical of course of the delta clear lake and various other lakes and ponds. The other typical of our clear water resivours such as Berryessa, Folsom, Oroville and Shasta.
The Shallow, The dirty, The Weedy.
1) texas rig 15-17lb P-Line 100% Flurocarbon
2) Carolina Rig 12-17lb P-Line 100% Flurocarbon.
3) Jigs 15-20lb P-Line 100% Flurocarbon.
4) Frogs 65lb Stren Super Braid.
5) topwater (not frogs) 10-15lb McCoy Mean Green.
6) crankbaits 12-17lb McCoy Mean Green.
7) Ripbaits 12-17lb McCoy Mean Green.
8 ) split-shot 10-12lb P-Line 100% Flurocarbon.
9) Drop-shot 10lb P-Line 100% Flurocarbon.
10) Blades 12-17lb McCoy Mean Grean
The Deep, The Clear and The Rocky.
1) texas rig 10-12lb Pline 100%
2) Carolina Rig (Same)
3) Jigs 10-15lb P Line 100%
4) Frogs 10lb McCoy (in the lack of thick cover that I'd need something else. This is a lake by lake decision.
5) topwater (not frogs) 10lb McCoy
6) crankbaits 10-12lb P line 100%
7) Ripbaits 10lb or PLine100%

Re: Poll: What line for each bait??
It is the latest edge. Guys are always looking for the latest new thing. I found out, while experimenting with braids that it ruined my timing. While wanting to embrace everything new, my rods and technique were better suited to mono. And there came a frustration factor, that didn't sit well. The rods and everything else has come a long ways.
And you have to consider during a short response poll, that many will jump on the bandwagon for whatever is new and hot. But this whole thing reminds me of fiberglass rods. When graphite got big fiberglass was considered garbage. After awhile anglers realized glass had some good qualities and was worthy after all. So the old became new again.
There are many good or great lines to choose from today. And the very best line won't make up for angler inattention, or just plain overpowering/redlining the setup.
Its really cool looking at fishing stuff these days, many choices and really high tech stuff like braid, flouro, fusion, and even the copolymers! I am not against flouro type line, there are good things to each one.
Trying them out is half the fun!

Re: Poll: What line for each bait??
After spending thousands (or in my opinion waisting thousands) of $$ in flourocarbon's, I went back to MUCH less expensive copoly/mono's and ya know what, I'm still catching and putting fish in the boat.
