New Net?

Post by superneal »

In need of a new net...Any ideas out there? What nets are good on the market?

Broke the one we have had for don't even know how long getting a fish out of a tree this weekend :( too bad it was only two pounds and didn't help us win the tournament.

Gene at the hook sells one that is "Hook Resistant", around $49.00.

Has anyone tried the kind of net that stows away in a tube I have only seen them on that Skeeter 1on1 tournament show.

Yeah I got one and it is kinda cool but takes 2 hands to extend. It gets harder to push out at the end. I was hoping that I could place the butt against my hip and slide the extension grip back with one hand, but no such luck.

I agree with Brian D...... Stowmaster.
You can get them from Cabelas or I think West Marine has them on the shelf.

what i've found is the rubber one is SSSLLLOOOOWWW in the water. I like the traditional style nets that have a rubber coating on the rope material to prrvent hook snags. they move much quicker thru the water and scoop fish a lot easier. i think the one i have is a frabill. I like the hoop to be black too, tends to not spook the fish as much as a shiny silver one. Just my $.02

I bought a nice net from bps for 20 bucks on sale, it doesn't collapse much, the handle merely slides up a bit, it has rubber netting to conserve the fish, and quater sized holes. Its been great.

I have had the net that goes into the tube (Hibernet it is called I think) for a few years and it has held up fine. You need to practice with it a few times as you really gotta man up to open it fully. It is a great size thou and stores great under your feet when it is closed.

JohnnyG1 I have one of the hiber-nets, I will put it in the back of my truck & you can check it out at Valley Rod, Tuesday or Wednesday.
