How to remove a Ranger console?

I have a 04 Ranger 520 and I would like to remove the passanger console. I took of the screws and it seemed to be glued on. Looking for some ideas on how not to damage the consol or the boat.

Not sure it is possible. They are bonded pretty good.

I would call a dealer and ask how they would do it. They might know what type of solvent will work on the glue.

Your right,they are glued on with some type of epoxy.You will have gelcoat damage no matter what you do so if you are going to do it take it to a place that does gel work.If you dont take your family out it sure opens up alot of room,makes a big difference if you fish tourneys.

I have a 2000 520 and yanked it out with no problems. It was glued in but I was able to break the glue without any damage. Still trying to find matching non skid material to cover up the holes though...heard Cabelas had it in stock but can't find it anywhere.

they put it together with high strength epoxy. you will have gelcoat damage when it is removed. you can use no skid mat to cover up the damage. try using small plastic wedges and slowly and evenly push them down until it pops

I have an 03 . I removed the console myself and C&C Modesto did the repairs. I used a rigid 5" drywall blade and worked it through the seams. I did have to use a hammer in areas but damage was less severe than most I was told. You should also find a hole in the side of your boat under the console that wiring runs through to the light in the side of your console. I bored that hole out and put the light from the side of my console in the side of my boat and left the additional wire behind it just in case i add something in the future. It turned out sweet and C&C Modesto did an oustanding job on the repair for a third of the price that Smooth as Glass wanted.

Use two large plastic wedges also have someone underneath with a heat gun warming up the plexis (Glue) don't get it to hot. White grip tape or spend the cheese and get the fiberglass repaired.

These consoles sometimes are a problem removing. Sometimes glass repair is needed. They will come out but most of us would be better off having a dealer do it. I'm with you on the single console. I really like the extra room an openness (not sure that's a word ) of a single console. Good luck with the job.
