This letter was published in the Payson RoundUp newspaper last week. With all the bad stuff going on these days, its nice to hear that most people still respect our men and women in uniform.

(We) are helping to plan the FLW Series bass fishing tournament coming to Payson this September.
The National Guard is the primary sponsor of the FLW and will have a strong presence during the FLW Day in Payson on Sept. 18, as well as the tournament that runs from Sept. 22-25. Last week, (we) met with SFC William Robinson from the Phoenix National Guard Unit to discuss some of the details about the events being planned. SFC Robinson was excited to share the experience of his first trip to Payson. The sergeant checked into the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino (pre-tournament meeting place) the evening before our meeting and since he was in uniform, he was granted the standard government rate for his hotel room.
During his breakfast the next morning, a woman walked up to him, thanked him for his service to our Country and told him she had paid for his meal.
According to SFC Robinson, she had a smile and a tear in her eye as she turned to leave. Being touched by that act of kindness, Sgt. Robinson headed to the front desk of the hotel to check out. Sgt. Robinson was told by a hotel representative that his room had been “taken care ofâ€

Not surprised at all Cowboy (Jim). As I have said before Payson has the nicest people of any town I have visited fishing an FLW event.
