I love Minnkota but I have heard many stories of who created the TM. A few of them are far before the 1930's. Maybe Minnkota was the first to mass produce?
same price if not more than a power pole.. the press release sounds like a sledge hammer is built in to "drive the spike three times at 10 second intervals"
but seriously how do these type of anchors hold up around rocky areas? or even gravel for that matter?
I'm stoked! I think power pole has been taking full advantage. Locked in price, buy the remote, crappy instructions, they try and make it so you have to get a dealer install the things. I might have to get rid of my two power poles.
You Guys need to see the Stern Stick. I believe its called. Its got a wave compensator and for 2 units... $2k Remotes and everything. The bracket is 150 I think.
Its really a cool deal. You can get it in any color.
They have a shear pin too so you can get back on the water in seconds if you break it.

You got to love it. More competion means a better product will be made over time. And hopefully a lower price as more manufacture fight for our bucks. I love Minn Kota products and this seems to be a improvement over the other brand. It's all good for us in the long run.

Nice but I wish they would put some effort into designing a better latching system for their digital riptide ST models. Third time at the trolling motor doctor. Been there since July 1 this time.
Got to play with one at the Ranger dealer meeting. It has some pretty cool features such as touch the remote twice and it automaticaly deploys touch once and it retracts, no more holding the buttons down. It also is a vertical deployment which is very fast to deploy and it should cut down on grass getting caught on it. Just 3 wires to rig one. One to the positive one to negative and one to your ignition for an alarm can sound if its deployed when you turn your key on.
Can't wait to get them in stock! Jim

The guys at PP and Stern Stick made a good point. How do you put two on and have the same stability as Powerpole or Stern Stick?
They go straight down which means a LOT of torque. There is an exposed cable in the channel as well, seems grass etc can get in.
If you need to get under a bridge what do you do? a PP or SS you can deploy to get it down to get under it. You are stuck with the height of the Talon.
Just some of the things the extending pole guys brought up. Just seems that an arm with give would do a better job than a straight up and down pole. Then again Minn Kota always puts out a working product.

Talon is the least expensive of the 3, but not if you have to reconstruct your garage door......
Answer.....
When not in use, the lightweight Talon can be easily taken off the boat, thanks to its Quick Release Bracket (comes standard).
