My 2010 US Open Experience (Short Version)

Post by Schneider Fishing »

It's the toughest, hardest tournament I've ever been in. Second only to the Perris NBW Snow bowl of November 21, (I forgot the year)

Day 1 Flight 6 Check-in at 3:15
Temp. 118 (Hotter than hell)
Keepers caught 2 (1 by me - GunFish)
Pro: Michael Caruso (Son of day 2 pro)
Place: 105
Baits: (GunFish, Spinner baits, crank baits, jigs, drop shot)
Suffered Heat Exhaustion

Day 2 Fight 2 Check-in 2:15
Temp. 115 (Hot as hell)
Keepers caught 2 (1 by me - drop shot)
Pro: Kevin Caruso (Father of day 1 pro)
Place: 102
Baits: (Mostly Drop Shot)

Day 3 Fight 6 Check-in 3:15
Temp. 111 (Almost hot as hell)
Keepers caught 5 (3 by me - spinner bait)
Pro: David Peltier (Former AAA Champion)
Place: 93
Baits: mostly spinner baits
Boat broke down and we were towed in by Vince Gennaro and Tami Curtis all the way from middle point.

Long Winded Version with 1 pic is at

Strangely enough if the schedule it again where it doesn't conflict with my teaching job I'll be there.

Sorry we had a crappy day out there. I guess we should have ditched the reaction earlier and just went with the safe bet. I fished all the same areas Day 2 and was culling by 8:15, that lake frustrates me! Good luck!

I drew Mr. Peltier the second day. We figured out the spinnerbait bite about 12:30p. Worked an area near Calville where the wind was blowing across some long slopping point. Fish were sitting on the edges or in the dark spots on top the points. Lost a blade on the trolling motor prop late. Luckily we had 5 fish. Dave was great, very knowledgeable angler, just had some bad luck with the boat.

Way to hang Robert. Least you did better than you know where recently 8)

Smart to drink so much water. It's weird how you don't need to piss either as folks sweat it off without knowing it in that dry heat.
