I was just going to post this as well. It was on the Yahoo home page for a while.

Nice to get some main stream media coverage for bass fishing it’s just too bad it has to come from this.

Is this considered a "Catch and Release"?

They said they think the treble hooks tied on the sinker were to keep the weights from entering the stomach? I think they are there to keep the bass from spitting them out.

Looks like there were some inconsistencies in the article and what we read from WON, but......

Talk about tarnished national exposure on the front page of Yahoo...being seen by THOUSANDS, if not MILLIONS of people, fishing and non fishing alike. Everyone that he ever influenced in his life now has a differing opinion.

To be spoken about in the fishing community is one thing...to be on the front page of Yahoo for your crime is MAJOR LEAGUE.

What kinda message does this send to future cheaters? I'm sure WON has their reasons for not pressing charges, and maybe it is a lost cause to do so.

I'd make this chump MH lose time at work to go to court, and make him have to retain a lawyer etc!

My Mom emailed me today to see if I knew some douche bag named Mike Hart who cheated in a bass tournament..She saw it on yahoo news.... I told her I don't know him directly, but many of my friends have finished 2nd to him in more than one tournament.... She knows very little about tournament fishing, but even she thinks he should go to Jail...Go Mom!!!

I got asked about this from a girl in Nebraska who knows nothing about fishing. Still it's not good enough. I wish won would've awarded him his prize. They must have reason's not to take this into court.

It's probably on your front page because you visit fishing sites. The stories are tailored to your browsing habits--"they" know how to target various demographics based on browsing and shopping history. That's why all the Viagra and midget porn ads also show up on your front page.

Yeah, they way I see it, you would drop the weight in hook side first and even if you held the fish upside down by the tail, the hook would catch the stomach lining and not drop out.
All the fish would eventually die after release.
Nice touch Mike, ya scumbag.

I guess all those stories from old timers about how they used to filet fish and find 5 ounce weights is no joke anymore.

I was just talking about something like this with a friend a while back. The whole thing about being dishonest with this sport that is. This is a sport, where if you really wanted to, you could be very dishonest and make some money. Please, I don't mean to offend those who are honest. Just trying to make a point is all.

It really sucks to hear something like this happen on such a grand stage.

This guy gave all of us anglers and our sport a black eye. And should be dealt with in a court of law to make thing right. The artical is there for the whole world to read. Which really sucks. He should not be let off the hook (WON Bass).

It's really disconcerting to think that this person would put so much pressure on himself, that it caused him to lose all sense of reasoning and comit a dispicable act just to achieve fame.

I've been fishin tourneys for 6 plus years, and only weighed in one dead fish that I can remember! 126 dead is an incredible number! Thats more then a 1/4 of his fish! UNREAL! Cheated the whole way IMHO!
