Dave, I hope you see this post. I am sorry to hear about your struggle with cancer. I will keep you in my prayers. You have always been a great competitor and a class act. Fight this like you have always competed and you will get the WIN!! Thanks for all you have done and for two of the best days I had as non-boater.

ont know you personally, but i lost my left kidney too renel cell cancer in june 09, and have been on meds for a year, im clean and cancer free, at least for now... but i now your pain, and im hoping you will be able to beat this horrible disease, and get back to fishing... godspeed

Guys David had been fighting this battle for quite some time, that is the reason many of you have not seen him at tournaments, shows, seminars etc. Dave has no immune system with all the Chemo and Radiation he has undergone. Dave drives a water truck for a living and the doctors don't want him to work due to the chance of infection from spores that come from dirt and working around it.

David is headed to Stanford to undergo series procedures that may help him with this and will have to live at or nearby the hospital this entire 3 month time. During this time Dave is going to need our help both with prayers and thoughts and financially. Many of us have been thinking about how we can raise some much needed funds for our friend, a tournament, seminars, auctions etc all came to mind but the best idea we seem to come back to is asking anglers to make a donation to Dave. I know that times are tough for many of us and Dave is no exception. He has kept this medical condition quiet for over a year as he didn't want his mother to know of his conditions and was worried about what this news would do to her health.

Gary Okusako a long time friend of David's and western angler came up with the idea that if you just passed one weekend on going fishing and took that money and donated to Dave and Mary it would be a great help for them. I think this is the best idea we have all come up with.

Dave is a really good guy and needs our help and prayers now more than ever before. Please do what you can to help him as he fights the battle ahead of him.......

Dave, I hope you can fight this thing, My step dad who raised me beat it and did well for quite some time. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I have met Dave a few different times over the years and he answerd every Spotted bass question I asked, it has led to some success for me on Oroville. Thanks for your help Dave get well!

Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you continue your treatment. Stay positive and fight this as hard as you can. As others have said, YOU can beat cancer (I have been through it twice myself).

If I can do anything for you or family while you are at Stanford please let me know (I live within 15 minutes of the hospital).

I've been friends with Dave for over 20 years but since I backed off tournament angling in '96...lost touch with him other than an occasional visit at sport shows here and there.

Dave, you can beat this my friend!! You have a huge number of friends and fellow anglers who are rooting for you!!! God speed amigo!!

Hi Dave!! I'm very glad to hear you are going to Stanford! I beat you there - I had to live at the Stanford Children's hospital from ages 3 1/2 to 5 years old. My skin allergies and hay fever were so bad my parents couldn't care properly for me. Stanford was a great care center even then - back in the 1800's, har! I do believe God can heal you and I will pray for that. Thank you again for all your support during my adult and youth bass fishing classes on behalf of Tournament Lures. Kent - a check is on the way. I think some kind of educational bass seminar event would be a great idea!!

Keep fighting buddy I had cancer over twenty years ago. I just kept laughing and thinking of the good things to come. It was not easy and treatment was not fun. Thru the Grace of God I healed. Keep positive and stay strong... May God conquer all your fears. I will pray for you.

Dave, I have not met you personally but I have seen you on the water before on Clearlake and Oroville and I know you are a machine. I am speaking for all fellow anglers now. I know its a tough time in your life but you have to let your bassin friends, the clubs and all associations that you have dedicated your time to help you and your family. Its the least we can do for all you have done for us. I talked to John Lowe tonight and he gave my your address and I am going to send a check from swimbaitcity to you and your family. I wish I could help more but its tough times for me and everybody else. John said every little bit helps. I hope this message has some meaning for the bassfishing community and they can help too. I'm very sad and concerned to hear about Dave's serious illness which I can only hope and pray that he'll win this biggest battle! Knowing Dave for some twenty-five years, I've known him as yes, a one percentile tournament angler, meaning he's been so consistent for such a long time. More important to me is that he's a one percentile quality person, always with a smile and happy demeanor and always fun to be around. Great tournament success has never changed Dave whom always treats everybody with the same respect no matter who they are or what they've done.

We're all pulling for you buddy...the fish will just have to wait for you my friend.

Dave it's Tracy Smart from lake havasu, I used to live in huntington beach you designed a glass cranking rod for me thru Wade Rods, I still use this rod in all the tourneys I fish FLW, WON , ANGLERS CHOICE PRO-AMS.
