We're actually thinking of running our Reports Pages in the future using this very same forum software. It would require reporters to log in and therefore make it a lot harder to abuse the pages in the manner that's happening currently.

Mull it over, if you're an active reporter or would consider to be.

At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon, by all means, require that everyone log in.
I think screen names are fine, as long as the poster isn't using one to hide from responsibility for what they say.
People who hide behind screen names, or post anonamously are like little kids who are sneaking around behind their parents' backs. Time to call them out and let them stand behind what they type.
