Pretty much the only place to launch on Mead is Calville Bay. About 40 minutes from Vegas. Where is the room? Mead can be fun. Actually I like it a lot but be careful with the weather. It is a big piece of water without much room for first-timer mistakes. You can stay pretty close to Calville and get most of the fishing you could ever want or you can run 60 miles and see a lot of different stuff. Be careful as hazards are not just on the banks and many are un-marked. The other thing that can bite you on that lake is the lack of services. Do not head out there expecting to just stop in some place to get a bite to eat, let alone a drink of water. Good luck and have fun!!!

You may want to call the marina before you head out to see if it has been cleaned up and ready for traffic yet. I know it has been a month or so but they had quite a mess up there right after the ABA TOC. They say it caused 1,000,000.00 in damage. So just a heads up please do yourself a favor and call ahead

You may be stuck with Boulder harbor or Hemmenway. I have launched at Boulder plenty of times. Never used Hemmenway. Just kind of pins you to fishing the lower part of the lake. I am sure the Ranger station will give you directions and status of Callville when they take your wallet and strip it clean at the park entry. :D

Boulder Bay is closed, and Calville is ok, but it is only two lanes and very tight. They are working on it pretty hard. But it is the only option right now. I think Hemmenway sucks, but that is me, it is very shallow and if you don't have a high truck, you may get water in the cab if you have to launch yourself. It has been gorgeous the last few days and looks to be just a bit cooler in the days to come, so you should have some great stuff!!

You are right brent "Hemmingway" does suck. Last time i went out to the lake it seemed like I had to back my truck a 1/2 mile out into the water before the boat would float,Definately a shallow stretch of water. If calville is open then that would be the one just remember to stay as close to the dock as possible because the panels they installed have shifted and will eat you trailer. Good luck

I was out last Sunday on Mead and I launched at Hemmenway at Boulder Beach. Yes it is shallow, but you should be fine, stay to the far right of the pier! You can get to it through Boulder City and turn left before the Hacienda Hotel. It is the furthest area south on lake mead, but you can get to Callville bay in 20 minutes as well as Las Vegas Wash. be careful to your left approaching Callville, lots of rocks and points exposed. Have fun and be safe. Go to weatherunderground.com and type in zip code 89005. This is Boulder City zip code and it gives me the information I need for lake mead.
