Hello Everyone.
Talked with a friend of mine and he said that he has seen for the past two fridays, sea lions up between the I street bridge and Discovery Park??????????
I didn't think they came all the way up here, this is strange. For those of you that know them "dar tuxedos", does that mean the stripers have come in already? I thought they were not here because of the heat and we were waiting for a good rain and whether change to push them in from the bay?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I try to understand these fish better.

My dad and I saw a 5' or so seal/sea lion (not sure witch really) coming out of little franks last week. Popped up about 10' infront of our boat.

Common to have sea lions/seals around Discovery Park, particularly during the fall salmon run and also during the spring striper run. I can recall returning from fishing for salmon on the American River in the late evening (2007 and earlier) and seeing a pod of about a dozen or so sea lions just lolling onthe surface at the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers. Don't know if they were sleeping/resting or what. They weren't moving much, just floating with their heads out of the water.

Yeah I was up smallmouth fishing out of walnut grove and the sea lions were throwing 20 lb salmon around all day and last week i saw 5 last week on the buoys at the mouth of potato slough...they are a freekin menace
