Rick and Kyle win!!!!

Post by Lynne »

Congradulations to Rick and Kyle Grover for bringing in the biggest limit today. They got $3,222 without even weighing in one of the big bass of the tournament. See you all at the BASS A THON on November 20/21, 2010

Thanks to QUALITY PERFORMANCE MARINE for coming out and giving drinks to everyone in line to weighin. Check them out on our DVL website for more information.

AS always, a HUGE thank you to Megan from LAST CHANCE BAIT AND TACKLE for helping out first thing in the morning and during the weighins. She helps make everything run SUPER SMOOTH! Another fine job by our staff Dale Riggert, Guy Williams, Jason Chang, Trevor Lincoln and Will Larson. See you all on December 5th for the next DVL event. Remember clean and dry to get into Diamond Valley. 4 boats got turned away that wanted to fish this time.

Danny Moraga brought us (2) $50 gift cards from Bass Pro Shops. We gave the cards to the first out of the money...Brian and Kevin Linehan!

Best to you all and THANKS FOR FISHING WITH NBW......

Bummer on the clean and dry turn aways.
Were any of those teams that fished AB on Saturday?
I hope they were at least able to get refunds.

Nice draw and congrats!

Way to go Kyle and Rick! It was tough out there today. 25 lbs today was quite an accomplishment. Still can't believe you caught them all on powerbait. :D

Good job Rick & Kyle. We learned one thing yesterday you can't live in the high desert and fish DVL in the winter, unless you leave for the lake a day early. The boat hadn't been on the water since ABA Clearlake was checked the day before we left no water. Hooked up the night before left for lake at 3:00 am did a fast check at AM PM in Hemet no sign of water. Got to lake checked again no sign of water, inspector takes his finger touches something in battery compartment, he said fills wet sorry. We didn't fill anything that would be considered wet. When you live in the high desert it's ether too hot or too cold. The only thing we could figure is that a small amount of condensation had formed in the compartment during the night it was pretty cold before we left. Lots of gas burned lots of sleep lost not sure it's worth it. What do they do when it's raining cancel the tournament or only let the ones locked fish it?

Delynn,
Try driving the last few miles with your compartments open, to let them air out.

Hey Delynn-

I wish I would have known you were going. I would have checked your boat. The check can be pretty extensive at times and for those of us who go to DVL all of the time, we know what to look for. Take it from me, even though the boat seems dry, there are so many areas for water to hide that you wouldn't even believe it. Don't get discouraged though. If you hit the next tournament, let me, Rick, or anyone else who frequent the lake double check your boat in the morning. I'd be more than happy to meet you at a gas station near the lake before so this doesn't happen again.

Anyways, hope your wife is feeling better and maybe I'll see you on 12/5 at Pyramid Anglers Choice.

Take care,
Brian

Really!!! If this happened to me I would never again try to fish this lake. I still can't believe the lack of common sense in doing these inspections. It amazes me even more that you guy's tolorate this treatment???

Thanks from Kyle and I for the high fives. That was a really fun day yesterday, but even if we had not done well it was another day spent with one of my sons, and that is why I am in the game. Plus the competetion in that region is going to be intence all year as there are the best sticks around in NBW. I know the inspection is a hassle, but the lake is worth it once you get in. It is So. Cals largest lake and the best fishing we have south of the Delta. Hope to see you all at the Bass-a-thon as Kyle, Will, Art Berry, Mike Phua, Lake record holder Mike Long and I will be more than happy to answer any questions about how to be successful there. Just ask. Rick G.

That's a really cool thing to do guys. Most guys won't say anything about what they do, especially at DV!

Rick don't forget that lake between the Delta and DVL called Lake Isabella. I had 5 fish for 32lbs and Steve had the same in 20 minutes the week after their annual trout derby. Now I'm retired I plan to spend the whole week after the derby fishing next year.

Your right Delynn, that is a great lake and it has flown under the radar for the last 15 years as the private honeyhole for the Bakersfield area guys. Ur lucky its kinda far from LA or it would get more pounded. But the wind is the other factor. Thats where CBC or WON or someone should have a TOC. DV though puts out the quality limits usually all year round. Sorry for the hassle you had and see you at the show. Rick G.
