Gloomis warranty (help)

Post by superneal »

Had a old loomis rod break on me today during a hook set. Will loomis still replace? Has anyone delt with them since they changed the warranty?

They never changed their warranty. It's the same as it's always been: they'll replace at free of charge any rod that breaks due to a manufacturer defect. You just have to send it in to them and wait for their assessment, which may take a while.

Their no-questions-asked replacement service (Xpeditor Service) went up from $50 to $100 a few months ago though. Used to be $50 to have a replacement rod sent 2nd Air to your door then they raised it to $65 around 2005 (and added a $50 Ground shipping option if you didn't need two day delivery).

I imagine they were going broke shipping all those rods via 2nd Day Air. It was probably like all the guys who exchanged WalMart batteries no-questions-asked every season just to get a new ones...

I used the service the weekend before it went up in price and it turns out all their customer service is handled at Shimano headquarters now. Went off without a hitch but waiting a week instead of two days was a bit of a hassle.

This is correct that all correspondence are to be directed through Shimano. The cost is also accurate. The address for shimano/Loomis is 1 holland drive,Irvine Ca. Sorry don't know the Zip

Just had a warranty issue dealt with SUCCESFULLY! Year old loomis 843c med heavy 7 footer broke about a foot above the cork. Meagan at Last Chance sent it in for me. She called me today and told me they wanted 100 bucks. I called Shimano and spoke to Cindy, who after looking at the rod, said it was VERY STRANGE (the rod was in excellent condition, except it was broke clean in half) and told me she'd ship one out today for FREE! Outstanding customer service in my book! Thank you Meagan and thank you Cindy from Shimano in Irvine. This will go a long way in my book! Scott

Well, heard from loomis today and it was not under waranty. They want me to pay 107.50 for a GL3 rod. Is it worth it?
