Ok so you fish your 6 matches in your region, then what? Is there just one winner per region or will the regional winners fish against the winners of the other regions? Is there some kind of season championship? Is there money to the winners? Prizes? There is a lot that is not explained on the flyer.

One question at a time; after 6 matches the season is over. There is no fish-off or continuation of a season as a new season starts shortly after the spring season ends. There is no season championship. There is no money to winners. No Prizes, except a loving cup to the league champ(s).

Look at this like it was coming from your local park and rec. It's an opportunity to meet other bass fisherman and have a friendly competition. Hopefully guys will wind up making some new friends along the way and have some fun with bragging rights and what not as the results will be published in their own forum.

Mike, I really didn't expect that you'd grasp the concept and if you can't then it likely isn't being marketed for people such as yourself. This concept isn't anything new. Might be new to fishing, I don't know. It's done all the time in golf and tennis leagues setup similar to this all around the country.

No disrespect sTony...but I'm confused also...I love fishing against new people but the $ for just the pairings and some basic record keeping seems like of excessive especially when there is no prize at the end. Maybe if you could get Stockoption to throw in his statistical expertise........dudes a maniac when it comes to stuff like that. Sure wouldn't take him but 30 mintues. Can anyone fish them?

Interesting how you look at it that way. This is what a tennis league I used to participate in used to charge for the exact same type of deal, back in 1996. Same concept, same price, almost 15 years later.

PS - There is a small trophy to the league champions each season and the possibility of a league t-shirt to participants depending on how registration goes.

For sure Tony this sounds like it would be super fun, and I know a lot of guys would come out and give this a try, but maybe you could have 1 Director per lake and match play head to head day, for those who want options put in, I know that for sure would more folks in per lake, I know there are lot of guys who fish tourneys could match up on tourney days as well, or match up on practice days before there event, also a paypal.com link would help electronic memberships, and for load up the league.

Cool idea - Nice work, something new is always a good idea. I don't know about the rest of the anglers in Calif. But, I for one get bored with the same ole stuff over and over. This is a new and great concept.

I like your ideas. We felt we had to start this program off somehow and that it would likely morph into something slightly different as time moves along. By that I mean, after the first season or two we'll know whether or not we'll have to expand into concepts like levels of leagues i.e; beginner, intermediate and advanced and such. We also kicked around the idea of a playoff concept but I remember in past leagues I've been in that breakdowns happened easier when it came to cramming that concept in between the league seasons.

Anyway, this is like version one beta and we'll see how registration goes and what kind of feedback we get during the first season. We will be setting up it's own forums areas with specific pages for FAQ stuff and league rosters and results. If enough people get involved up and down the state, there will be plenty of work to be done in the office.

It's also a concept we're hoping to launch in California, work out the kinks and then take to other states as well. The goal is to try to develop more bass anglers through low level competition and get folks meeting and greeting a bit.

We're excited about it. It's basically a way to spend less then five bucks a trip involved in a low level competition of sorts that exposes you to some new faces, maybe some new techniques along the way and what not. Hopefully it'll get some guys committed to fishing a little bit more then they might have without it and that'd be good for us all too.

Thanks for your input, look for the pages to be coming out soon and flyers in your local tackle stores and what not. Any ideas on where we should distribute flyers in your neck of the woods, give us a shout and we'll make sure it's there.

The other aspects that this kind of touches upon are that there are no real hard and fast rules as to how two competitors in this league carry out their match. They could decide to do it from one boat, bring two, one from a boat and the other competitor from a kick boat and what not. Also we didn't restrict it by species either so guys could get together and decide that the striper bite is better then the largemouth bite and base their match on stripers instead. All that matters is that at the end of the day a result is there for who won and who lost. If the crappie bite heats up, anglers can decide to make it a crappie match. We're good with that.

It's kind of like taking the nutcase, where pretty much anything goes, and dropping it into a match play concept. Few rules, more flexibility and hopefully, more fun.

In all good honesty, Mike, this really wasn't set up with guys like you in mind. This is really geared more towards anglers that don't already compete much, I'd think, or aren't currently doing much. It's certainly not designed to be in conflict with other, existing tournaments and such.

That being said, if we found that guys of your skill level did want to play in an environment such as this, that's when we'd likely have to set up a beginner, intermediate and advanced league structure. Obviously, guys of your skill set would be advanced anglers, while guys like me would fit in down on the lower levels quite nicely. And we're thinking that would likely happen over the course of time anyway, as seasons starting passing we'd see if there were patterns to skill sets in our players and possibly assign those designations through league play. Meaning you could join as a beginner and advance, through play, to the higher leveled leagues. But, as I said, we have to start it somehow.

I like the concept.
Obviously it's not geared to the avid tournament angler but it does fill a hole that other tournaments do not.
This is a great way for people to get experience competing without breaking their pocketbooks, it's also the perfect format for those that fish for the fun of it and to make new friends. Give it a chance to get off the ground and I see the possibility of expansion as being endless. To get a shot at six head to head matches and the results and you name on the forums for the cost of two crank baits sounds like a sweet deal to me.

I think it sounds like a fun format. I can't believe all the people complaining about 30 bucks! If you don't like it then fine that's your choice but why bash someones idea for a new circuit? We all fish what we want anyways so why try to sway the people who might try to fish it with criticism? Not all of us have websites promoting ourselves and welcome the idea of a fun circuit with low cost. Obviously if you are fishing for money then this isn't for you and that's fine go fish somewhere else.

Thanks for trying to get something new going I know that a lot of us appreciate it. But you just can't make all the people happy especially the ones who do nothing for the sport but promote themselves.....nuff said!!

Here's my two cents.

1) on the $30 issue that has come up. I would gladly pay $30 for someone else to do the dirty work of setting up the team and leagues. My assumption is that it is going to be a little bit of a headache for the coordinator.


2) I consider myself to be a very competitive tournament angler. And this happens to appeal to me as well. I am the type of person that thrives on competition and even if it is only for bragging rights. I would much rather fish a tournement than fun fish. This gives guys a way to just compete one on one. I do it with my buddies all the time.

3)He has stated that the rules are very flexible. There is nothing saying that you and your opponent could not come up with some sort of side bet. Lunker, Winner takes all, smallest fish....the possibilties are endless. Guys could get creative.

4)He has mentioned that this is concept designed to get more people into fishing. A lot of people don't get into tournaments because they just view it as donating to the field. These people like to fish, but don't want to throw their money away. This is perfect for them.

One suggestion I would offer up though is to make this a team style or have another division for teams. A lot of people that would want to do this may be boatless. Also they are going to learn better if they are on the boat with someone than they would by themselves.

way to go finally a competition that makes sense a day of fishing that has competition, affordable entrys, and no intrest to all the whinning tournament regulars,(brilliant) please dont change a thing, lets do head to head and team with the format you listed, I'm in
