In case you haven't heard, Cabela's has joined with American Bass as a national sponsor. ABA team tournaments in the Central Arizona, Pleasant Summer Nights, So Cal, Diamond Valley and Washington West regions are also now part of the Angler Cash program. The highest finishing enrolled angler in each tournament in the previously mentioned regions will receive a $250 gift card. If the angler purchased their boat from Cabela's, new or used, regardless of brand, they will receive an additonal gift card of $500. There are some rules to the eligibility. The rules are similar to Ranger Cup, (must fish out of the purchased boat, must wear Angler Cash logo, etc). You can see all the details at the above web page. I would encourage you to register even if you don't intend to fish in any of the currently participating regions. I believe there will be some larger prizes awarded at each of the Team Classics as well. Also, if you fish in a region that is not currently part of the program, please register and send an e-mail to Cabela's thanking them for the program and asking to include your region in the future. I can tell you those e-mails will be read and will go a long way to get your region included. We are only sponsoring ABA in the west at this time and have no plans to add any other organizations.
With the impending departure of Cabela's from association with FLW Outdoors (their idea, not ours), there will be some dollars freed up in the budget to do some other things. Let's not waste this opportunity to get some additional support for western anglers. I would hate to see that money get spent with the walleye guys in the midwest, we already do plenty for them. Last year was the pilot for the Angler Cash program and we paid out $108,250.
