DVL and places to stay (Not in Hemet)

Post by DeltaBound »

Last year I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Hemet with a friend of mine from out of town. The only complaint I had with the stay was that there was no place to charge my boat batteries. We woke up early to look for a place to have breakfast only to get a Hemet reality check. We went to the Denny's nearest Sanderson only to find the place was so dark and dingy the only thing I saw was a woman being groped in front of everyone (and an ugly one at that) and a recolection of a movie I once saw "The night of the living dead" . Needless to say we left that Denny's before being seated. We traveled down the street and see another Denny's that was at least well lit and decided that it was a bit better than the first Denny's so we stopped. The waitress sat us next to some girls that had looked as if they were up all night and were a bit wasted. The girls started to get a bit loud and obnoxious, we ignored them and proceded to have our breakfast. A group of guys came in sat next to us and proceded to get into a yelling match with the girls and the cops were called. The funny thing is, the town was not to shabby the night before, the people seamed like nice towns people. So, my question is, where would be a good place to stay near DVL (maybe somewhere on Vanburen Ave)?

Ahhh, good ol' hemet

Stay in Temecula. The problem with staying at a place with cheap rates is the local traffice usually lives in them.

Temecula is only 15-20 minutes from the lake and you will probably miss the theatrics of Hemet at 3:00 on the morning.

been to DVL once and stayed at a Motel 6 in Hemet and I will second the drama! My buddy and I went to the movies that night in Hemet and it was like a circus in there...yelling, screaming, groping, you name it. and the ticket lady looked like she was from the Hills Have eyes!

I agree with Temecula...much nicer spot to stay and not quite the rucus!

The three cheapest in order are Motel 6, Rodeway Inn, and Extended Stay. There are also Ramada, Holiday Inn, La Quinta and Marriott. It all depends on what you want to pay. I have not stayed at these hotels with a boat in tow, but you can usually find somewhere to hook up, be it an external plug or something near a service entrance.

Did they lock or get rid of the external AC outlet at the Hemet Hampton Inn? I know when I stayed there a few years ago, there was a place to plug in. The outlet was facing the part of the lot with the few long parking stalls on the west side of the building. If you had a long enough extension cord, it was no problem plugging in. Won't stay at the Best Western down the street any more because they stopped letting you plug in. In fact, one time they told me to go plug in at the Hampton. The Hampton is too expensive to stay for tournament reasons (maybe a fun fishing weekend getaway), but it's a really nice place -- especially for Hemet. Feels like it doesn't belong there!

To answer your original question, my buddy and I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Temecula before we knew about places to stay in Hemet. It was good and fairly reasonable.

First off I live in Menifee homo's!!! Hampton is the best in Hemet (not sure of the charging problems)and right across the street in the Target shopping mall is the best breakfast in town in Mia's Country Kitchen. Dinner at Chicago's Pizza in the Last Chance Bait & Tackle shopping mall on Sanderson to and fro the lake is good eatin'. Plus you have Chili's east of Sanderson on Florida(74). In & Out also down that way with a lot more stuff. Other than that you have Temecula or Winchester off the HWY 79 south of the lake that are close too.

Do it right and stay at Pechanga in Temecula. Plenty of parking and a really nice hotel. Don't have to worry about theft there either. Basically anywhere in Murrieta or Temecula would be your best bet.

There is a small hotel next to Pepes mexican restaraunt on Railroad canyon. It is a little closer than Temecula. It is in the city of Canyon Lake and is called the Rodeway inn @ 31820 Railroad Canyon Rd (951) 244-1164. Right next to it is the Canyon Lake town Center which is also the name of the closest cross st to the hotel. The Canyon Lake Town Center has a small market and a few other restaurants. There is also a Chevron just west on Railroad at Canyon Hills rd and there is another shopping center and a Stater Brothers. This is the area I work in and I think you will find it clean and safe. I guarantee it will be better than the Hemet or Elsinore experience. There is also a hotel near Newport which is an offramp on the 215 and they have plenty of gas, stores and restaurants in that area too. I would stay away from Guy's neck of the woods we started calling that town Meth4me jk it aint that bad and that is where Newport and the 215 are. Dont stay in Perris, Elsinore, Hemet or San Jacinto those are some of our busiest houses.
