In case you missed this on the Bass fishing forum.
Found a great deal on Craigslist for a boat.
Started dealing with the guy and it ended up being a classic Scam.
Do not waste your time and lose your money with 2004 Ranger 2005VS-9800 Craigslist Orange County.
There is good info about how to recognize these guys by googleing EBAY Motors scams.
Its a real education.
Hopefully the FBI can get this one, but I am sure he is one of many.

Re: Craigslist Boat Beware!
I have seen the same thing and tried to communicate with them. Major scam and I keep flagging them
Re: Craigslist Boat Beware!
I've seen several of these over the last few months. It's usually a 520V 2003 for anywhere from $3000 to $9700. Always the same deal, they want to do the deal through EBay's Buyer Protection Program or some variation. If you click on the Fraud link on craigslist you will see their warning and it matches, exactly, what the buyer will post.Greg W. wrote:In case you missed this on the Bass fishing forum.

I wish there was an easier way to 'drop a dime' on these folks but craigslist wants you to go to the Feds. If it ain't terrorist related the Feds don't care.

Re: Craigslist Boat Beware!
I've seen several scams over the years; one was even in the boat trader. One on Ebay had two phony websites set up, one where the seller supposedly worked, and another was the shipping company.
The one thing I have done is ask them where the boat is located, of course it's not where you live, when they give me the location, I reply "Oh my brother lives there, give me the address so he can check it out" I never hear from them again.
