ever install your own trolling motor??

i got me a new minnkotta..it is a 24 volt motor not 12/24. my previous motor was.

do should i rewire my wiring to the batteries? my motor before was a mercury 12/24 48lb thrust motor? i bent the shaft. forgot to pull it out on a take off...oops....owells that was the past.

so do i rewire my boat ???????????? :roll: thx,saLTIE-

depends on the guage (size) of the existing wire. if its less than 8 gauge I would replace it. 6 would be idea but 8 will do. if you do replace it, make sure you solder all the connections and then shrink tube it. it stops the corrosion from crawling up the wire.

If your old (12/24) set up was working and giving no problems I
would leave it alone and just set the switch to 24 and run your new motor on that position. No need to re-wire and fool around with it if it is not broke. Bill K
