Anyone missing some braid?

Post by Riplip »

Just noticed some spots on the driveway under my lower unit. Hmm...pulled the prop and removed about 30yards of some nice looking braid, maybe 80lb test. Into the shop, and $180 and two seals later and I'm good to go. Oh yeah, the shop gave me another 30yards worth! Discarded line sucks!

Just think. It could have been YOUR line you threw overboard last week. I'm sure it wasn't, but another reason not to litter. Especially used plastic worms, hooks, ect..

I'm feeling much better now, thanks for that!

Seriously, I was hoping to remind everyone of the impact of discarded fishing line. My work here is done. Thanks to all...

I'm having trouble reeling it in.

Always good to pull the prop every 5 trips or so, just to check for line and debris that can lead to seal damage. Easy and quick prev. maint. that can save alot of bucks and breakdowns, check the troll prop too !!
the best way to catch a big one is don't lose um sharp hooks set drag retie!

I would add while it that may stink, you did not toast your lower unit.

In that regard, a couple seals is lucky.

We have had guys pick up braid and lose the lower unit. Bammo! (And did not finish the event.)
