I agree with elfish. Fred did an amazing job with the design on this rod. I have been using it for a while now and love it! I have used almost all the frog rods out there and they just aren't comparable. Give one a try and you will be hooked. That goes for the whole IROD line up for that matter ha. Good luck to you on whatever you choose and smash a big one!

Dobyns Champion 736, Richard advised me to try that rod for frogs and I am glad I did, Sold all my Loomis and Powells to buy Dobyns. The Savy is about the same mony as a Powell but far superior in every way. Give me a call if you live in the Sacto area and you can try it out for a couple of days.

Had a senior moment, I was considering a 735 savy at the time Richard advised trying the 736

Powell 735 all the way. Perfect length, power, weight for froggin. Put a small profile reel like a shimano E7 on it and you can frog the delta for 10-12 hours easy.

I went with Bobby Barrack's signature series frog rod. It is made by Falcon Rods and available at Monster Tackle this is the best frog rod on the market, designed by Bobby for throwing frogs. You cannot go wrong with this rod.

This is a link to a video Bobby did about the rod.

There are plenty of good frog rods on the market, no question. That being said, Bobby's frog rod is legit. The 7'10 length is good for the Delta weed flats.

if your budget is $100, if it were me, I would look and ASK around first for a lightly used lamiglas 797. Amazing frog rod....all horsepower!

If you can still find them, this rod I've enjoyed using to this day for about the last 10 years.
Quantum Tour Edition, TC707FJ-XT, 7'0" Telescopic, Heavy Action, 30-100 lb. test, 1/4 - 2 Oz. I currently use 65 lb. Power Pro braid with it, I've put this rod through a real beating the past few years and have been very satisfied with it. I only paid about $100 for it at the time when Jumbo Sports was in Stockton at the time.

Put the IROD frog stick in my hand at a local retail shop. The two they had were slightly damaged. Loose pieces around reel seat. Are these rods not durable or not made well?

maybe you came across a couple bad ones because these rods are very durable! You can't break these things...super strong.

The Bass Pro Shop Extreme Trigger EXT710HT 7'10", power: heavy, action: extra fast. Item # 21-156-768-00. Use a 7.0:1 reel. The rod sells for $99.99 However they go on sale several times a year (some time as low as $59.99). One draw back to useing this rod you got to have a strong arm to repeat casting all day. It has a lot of back bone to pull the big ones out the thickest of trash (a good delta rod). The price is right.

Good Fishin

+1 on the IROD Frog Rod. I have a Powell 735 and then tried the IROD for a day and loved it. Felt lighter with a softer tip and the same backbone. I was able to cast further and more accurately with the IROD.

I'll be selling my 735 Powell soon for one.

Its not quite a hundred bucks but Imho the lamiglas XFT 806 is the deal for most froggin situations. caught a ton of frog fish on that rod paired with a curado 7:1 it cant be beat, I like the extra length for controlling the fish and gettin their head up and coming toward you!
