Tri-Tips cooked low and slow on my Kamado smokin grill. Mahogany smoked Bacon wrapped scallops & shrimp with a tequila/OJ reduction sauce, and a few beers for the chef.

Other than that...putting the next issue of WesternBass.com magazine to bed...as the deadline is here. So... for those writers and advertisers who have procrastinated...it's last call or you're outttttt!

Taking my lawn chair and a cooler up to the launch ramp at Don Pedro. Best entertainment all year watching these people that haven't launched since last Labor Day! As for my boat ... never gets wet on the three-day weekends in the summer!!! Just the beginning of "crazy season"!

This is hilarious! Launch ramp cams may be the next best thing to the wacky Walmart pics that we see. This could go viral!!
I can just picture a guy with a white t-shirt on (sunburned as all get out) wading in the water chest deep on the ramp...hollerin' at his wife who is trying her best to back the trailer down the ramp...kids with bright orange lifejackets on sitting in the boat with zinc oxide on their noses...yada yada yada...too funny!

I've been away from home at Oroville the last three weekends. Time to stay at home with the family this weekend. Give the gas card a break and miss the non-fishing crowds on the water.

Boy thats me to a t but I will be at Nacimiento and the cool thing about here is the fishing at the ramp aint to bad. So let's see here I wont have to drive so as many brews as I want, catch a few fish, watch the zoo and hard bodies :), BBQ. Best entertainment for 12.00 a guy can have.

Sunday is race day and Monday is do nothing.

I've actually done this! It's is so much fun especially with a shipload of beer. I did it at Sonoma one year where there was three boats in a row that wouldn't start and wouldn't move for the next guy. One guy stated "There's a battery on this boat?????" The longer you wait the better it gets!

Hey Ash,
Happy Anniversary man!
I'll be visiting my two Uncles' grave sites in Fair Oaks (Cobra pilot KIA in Vietnam & CHP officer killed in the line of duty) first thing & then spending the rest of the day with family & friends telling stories, watching the race & bbq'ing with my new son. We think about my Uncles every day, but it's nice to see the cemetery with all the flags posted on Memorial day. It was awesome living in D.C. when the thousands of bikers would roll in for this weekend. Great time to be with family & friends and appreciate what those people have all sacrificed for us!

Hey Ash,

Same thing here, but it will be my 19th wedding anniversary on the 30th and I know I can't go fishing that day. My wife says I have "fishing" on the brain lol. Happy Anniversary to you too.

A few of you have mentioned it, but the first thing we should do is take a moment and give thanks to all the vets, past and present, who have done so much to allow us to have the freedom to do the things we enjoy. Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend

+ 1 but more specifically those who have laid down their lives for this great Country of ours. Veteran's Day is on the 11th of November and while it's good to always be thankful for those who have served or are currently serving, Memorial Day is a day for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. It's good to see that it's atleast at the top of a few of your lists.

Just got back from three days of celebrating my youngest daughter's graduation from Feather River College up in Quincy. Horsed around with the grandson a bunch, musta watched Tangled & Maveric 3 times each(We snuck Salt in there late last night) HAR! Went up ta Bucks Lake yesterday day morning and chased a big ole bear and then watched a guy battle about a 12 # MACK! Got up this morning and it was 28 degrees, trees dusted with snow. Couldn't wait ta git outa there and head home. Oh if ya didn't know, It's Cherrie season, thank God I didn't stop off at the Casinos on the way home! HAR!

Tomorrow, it's back to relaxin and spending a day on the River with a couple of teens!

Spent the weekend in Nevada riding quads and dirt bikes, exploring old ghost towns and gold mines, with my son and a few friends from work. Rode over 200 miles on the bikes in wind, rain, sleet and snow. Saw some really great scenery and ate some really good food, and had a great time.
