Lowrance 1240 flasher

Post by Sgtoro »

Help needed with a Lowrance 1240 in dash flasher.
The unit spins up and shows the surface but I cannot get it to show a bottom. I placed my hand under the thru the hull transducer and it's pulsating. There has not been any trauma to the unit or the transducer and it was working the last time I took the boat our prior to this last trip. Anyone have any ideas or information?

Information, or no where enough.. I honestly have no idea what your problem could be..I know you have stated it in your best mind, but after reflecting is there anything more you could add or subtract....

Let me try again, The transducer appears to be doing it's thing as I can feel it pulsating. The flasher seems to be working as I can hear it spinning and the surface shows up as it should (a red line) Normally the bottom would show up as another red line at whatever depth the boat is in. Adjusting the sensitivity there's no change. I don't know what more I can add as there's not much to these units My problem is I don't know if the problem is the transducer or the flasher itself.
Thanks

I would think the problem is in the reciever, rather than the transmitter..The chances are that you do not have your display set up correctly or to get the maximum out of your system..The display itself could be bad, or you may not have it adjusted correctly..By the way, I am still trying to learn to set mine for optimum..

Sounds like the same exact problem I had, but with an X135 on the bow.

It turned out it was the transducer after all. It is was less then 6 months old. The original was mounted inside the hull.

Thanks for the replys. I've found he problem and it's in the switch. When I wiggle the shaft on the switch it works fine. Now to contact Lowrance and see if I can get a new switch.
Thanks agian
