What’s new for the California B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation

Post by fsh4bss »

At a recent Board of Directors meeting we voted on some changes for 2006 that I believe will get our member clubs more interested in fishing the Federation Qualification tournaments. Here are some of the highlights:

 Any club who has a least 5 members fish in all of the qualification tournaments in any region will be eligible to send their clubs Angler of the Year, or Club Champion, to the “State Classicâ€

For just about every org. after the DFG Jamboree, which I believe is at the end of this week. That is when the tournament dates are chosen/approved.

Well my 2 cents worth: Some good changes but I think the bad out weighs the good here. First of all I really don't understand the logic behind someone who is angler of the year in a club and has never fished a Fereration event be eligible to fish in the State Classic. When there will be anglers who particapte in Federation events not make the State Classic. And should this "Angler of the Year" make the State Team his way is paid and he has not paid any entry fees into a Federation event.

Reducing the number of events in a Region to make it eaiser for people to fish other reigons. Personally I don't think this will help 4 or 5 events this will not entice very many people to fish outside thier region. And forcing regions into duals? Just think its not a good idea.

But bringing the "Wild Card" tournament back is a great idea.

I also think increasing the number of events in the Travlers region is a great idea. And giving out an "Angler of the Year" in that region is awsome. But increaseing the number of events an angler must fish will make it ture travlers region. Last year Reg 3 & Reg 5 had 2 duals on their scheduals. So if someone from one of those regions fish all the scheduals events in thier region they they qualifed for the travlers region when in actuality all the did was fish the events in their reigoins and paid 2 entry fees at the duals.

The Federation is a great organization and the Regional Directors and Tournaments Dircetors do great work. They work very hard for no pay and have to listen to all our complaints.

This is just my oppion and i hope i didn't upset anyone right wrong or indifferent just how i see things.

Federation Changes

I have to agree with Rougebass where he said "First of all I really don't understand the logic behind someone who is angler of the year in a club and has never fished a Fereration event be eligible to fish in the State Classic. When there will be anglers who particapte in Federation events not make the State Classic. This doesn't seem right.

My 2 cents,

There are 2 sides to this

The members of the clubs pay there dues to the Federation. I assume that they unlike the ones that qualify will pay an antry fee. They should be entitled to something in my opinion. I know that the guys from a local bass club of over 60 members pay there dues to the Federation.

This will also get the Clubs more aware of the Federation events and maybe raise participation. Think about this topic on club meeting night. Participation will go up. I did wonder if they would be a non boater or a voater. I guess the bugs will work out. With change ther is always oposition.

The Federations back east dont have events that qualify you to fish the finals it is all done buy club standings and participation. They have fund raisers to pay for the team.

What would you do if the only way to fish the federation fish was through the club tourney's

Here's the thing Rodger I fished over 10 Federations Events last year. Over $1,000 in entry fees. 40% of my money goes to the State team. I have no problem there. But to have someone that is not participating in thses events come in a get a free ride on my money. Makes no sense. My other issue with this is its not an even playing feild for everyone to make the state team.

I did not know that back east is all done through the clubs thasnk you for point that out. I guess the thing is we are used to seeing the way the Federation is ran out here. And like I said in my fisrt post I think these events are ran by top notch people and are ran smooth. I just hate to see any part of this organization fall apart. Thanks for the info Rodger!
