Hmm;

Who's Fishing Where this Weekend?.... Been thinking about Casitas!

Hey Rip;

Ive not paid much attention to Casitas since they stopped me from coming up what seems like to me a long long time ago. Have not fished there in almost two years or longer. Prolly 2 plus years at the least but i just cant remember :oops: Its hell getting old but i know ive not been there in my new Champion and im coming up on two years of ownership end of November.

What are the restrictions like and what does a guy have to do to get on that water these days? Im lookin for an "end of Summer" or "Fall" getaway in peace and quiet and am considering to make the trip up there for some quiet time and camping for a week before school starts back up and Little Big Ed Jr begins 7th grade.

So whats it like up there these days??

Later; Big Ed!

While this weekend is out I will be leaving for the Delta Tuesday. First a couple of days for work then HBC then fishing with a couple of good friends and I'm really looking forward to fishing again. It's been a month since I have been on the water.

Love the saltwater.... Love tuna the way they fight. Yellowtail is good as well but Yellowfin Tuna and Bluefin Tuna are 2 of my favorites.

Ed,,, To get into Casitas yo uhave to be inspected. Then they sell you a $50.00 lock and cable to lock your boat to it's trailer. After you get your little wire clamp that secures the 2 eyes on either end of the cable you need to keep your boat out of the water for 10 days before you can launch there. If you cut the wire keeper on the cable you have to go through the inspection & 10 day quaranteeeen again.

I bought into 2 years ago this Jan.. I haven't put my boat into any other waters since. However I live 15 minutes away from the lake, and it is worth it to me. The fishing has been slow this summer, but I managed to bring out 5 fish Saturday ranging from 2-4#. That's as much as I know.. I will keep an eye out for a big old guy that looks lost in a new Champion. :wink:

All of Saul's info is correct. If I had a family and some time I'd be at Lopez. For camping/nature/good fishing...It's got my highest rating. Casitas is to much trouble and the fishing has been so so....not compared to Castaic or SoCal but by Casitas standards it's having problems/issues ....

This might be a little late, but I just got from fishing the Delta with Roger and I'm still feeling overwhelmed. :shock: That place is huge and extremely challenging. Good luck to all that will challenge her for green fish.

The Delta is an awesome fishery. It can treat you like a King or beat you down to a level where you walk away just shaking your head.

I can understand your feeling of being overwhelmed. It sure can be intimidating at times.

THE DELTA,
My favorite place to fish besides Havasu.
Land of big fish on flippin' sticks or cranks. Man I love it when you get bit on a shallow crank there on a big fish. It feels like you just punched a block of concrete. It just does not move.

Ray... Is Havasu like that also. I haven't fished either body of water. I do however have a good friend that lives in Havasu, and was planning on trying some new places when I get my newer boat before I chain it to Casitas again. I will definitely try to Delta, Lopez (haven't fished there for years) , Margarita, and I guess Havasu also.. I would like to try my hand at Clearlake also.. I am getting a little tired of this years Casitas fishing.

Havasu has a lot to offer.
Smallies and largemouth
river,lake and dirty water as well.
Deep water, art. structure and grass as well.
flip, finesse, reaction it has it all
It is my kind of lake. I am a junk fisherman and it works well for me

I really like the reaction strike, and that's what I have been missing at Casitas this year...

I'll get you on the water at Lopez when I get my next boat.. Hopefully the butterfly will sell quickly. I have my eye on a couple on different sites that I would like to make an offer on, but can't until the Monark sells.. But as soon as I have a new one, I will go to Lopez with ya!
