Casitas this Friday
Hey folks. I'm goin to Casitas for the first time in a few weeks. Any news on baits? I know there was sort of a swimbait bite last time I was there, but nothing really good. Any updates would be appreciated so I don't freeze my a$$ off for nothing.

Re: Casitas this Friday
I drive past the lake every morning Saul....It was 36 F in Station Canyon this morning! Layers of clothing is my advice...
...Oh you want to know about fishing....Well Oliver ( he owns Hooked up Tackle ) and I threw swimbaits all day long on Saturday in the rain...ran into Dave Poolman he did the same so let's see...two boats with ~ 24 hrs of sling'n and we did the best as we had one follow! I gave some advice to Ralph and he went out and broke off the biggest fish of the year do'n it.
.....Main lake cuts and points use a jig....Seems color does not matter just fish it......The water was reallllly still last night you could see that the grebes were all over the lake so I surmise the bait is way up.....stick with the jig.....or an Ice jig lowered into 40 feet or so keep it just hovering the bottom with little action for some deep water action....Maybe the swimbait thing broke loose but I've only been pulled under once in four trips where as the dropshot and jig bite has produced fish...dropshot dark colors early!

Thanks Kelly. I'll keep that in mind Friday.
Ron.. You remember Casitas, don't you? It's that lake you used to love to fish.

Hey saul - Let me know if you figure it out. I'll be up there on Saturday looking for a spot without an Anglers Choice guy on it. I think thier first tourney is Saturday. I found a few willing green fish a couple weeks ago but it's been tough for me.

Wonder how Sauls day is progressing...Let's see...no wind and water temp stable with truck loads of bait....hope he brought his shad net...
...At least he's not rubbing elbows with the AC tournament on Saturday.

It was okay. No fish over about 2.5 lbs, but the dropshot seemed to be the ticket Friday. Damn Trolling motor screwed up. Have to call Motorguide about warranty replacement.
Byron.. Cranks are dead, like Kelly said very calm almost no wind, and swimbaits are drawing followers, but no takers so far. That's my story and I'm stickin to it!
Kelly.. I always think about bringin that shad net, and I certainly do not fault people for using live shad, but I have never quite been able to get it to the lake to use it.
It's kind of like masturbating.
feels good while your doing it but you feel so cheap after wards.
