So with Mike's accident it begs the question:
Unmarked hazards exist all over the Delta. I know alot of folks, myself included, save as many as possible in the GPS.
But with something like these guys pumping silt using pipes that I am sure move every minute of the day with the tide, boat traffic etc.. is marking it with 5mph buoys enough or for that matter is that even the correct method? Wouldn't a hazard marker be better?
OR is there even a law that covers that kind of stuff? Common sense tells you that you that if you doing a job like this you should mark the pipe and inform the public in a public waterway but then again the world is full of stupid people.
I am glad to hear that Mike and his son are doing so well! Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Unmarked Hazards?

Re: Unmarked Hazards?
Guys the scary part is there was nothing signifying any pipe or work! No bouys, no 5 zone, nothing! Mike was using caution and staying clear of the barge! The pipe got air in it and popped up right in front of his boat. How do you prepare for that. The scary part is they were only doing about 45mph.
he said if the back seat wasn't in to help slow the motor it would have killed them both! The real scary part,,, the frkn motor was still running while it was on top of them. He tried to throw it in neutral but couldn't. He finally reached down and pulled his kill switch!!!! Can you plan for that! That's SCARY!!

Re: Unmarked Hazards?
Several weeks ago during the Hook Tourney the dredge that was down river from the bridge had only one 5 mile hour buoy out that I seen and no pilot boats. Having seen it on Friday before being out there on Sunday went to the other channel and avoided that area all together. Was supprised that there were no pilot boats like in the past.
I was out today in the wind. The dredge that is up-river from the bridge just up from Big Break had three pilot boats out today. The 5 mile hour makers for the pipe I guess went nearly all the way across the channel and there were about 5 of them. Did not even attempt to cross and went clear to the other side of dredge to avoid. There were 3 to 4 foot waves so I can only think what the underwater pipe was doing.
