Why ceramic/hybrids...here's just a couple reasons:

1) will not corrode as they are ceramic
2) dissapate heat much faster and fight heat retention. Thus do not swell in the race and slow your reel down.
Especially important in cranking and swimbait applications.
3) capable of much higher rpms, thus allow casting of lighter baits much easier, and up to 20-25% increased
casting performance overall.
4) will perform the same dry as they will lubed. Basically making them maintenance free if need be.
5) life expectency is about 3 times longer than SS.

If anyone out there is on the fence or even considering having Dan work on your reels, I'd tell you to absolutely DO IT! I gave him an older Citica & when I got it back, it replaced my REVO SXT as my primary casting reel. It's much better than new and smooth as silk. My Cousin's Castaics & Chronarch are on their way Dan!
