Guys,
I hope that everyone had a great holiday season and a safe and happy New Years. We have already started some of our Team regions, and I wanted to take this time to define the 2011 - 2012 Team Season Program. We are still currently working on our sponsor packages for the year end events, and will update everyone as we get those wrapped up. Below you will find the Won Bass Teams Program and layout for the 2011 - 2012 season.
2011 – 2012 WON BASS TEAMS GUIDELINES
Choose your own fishing partner in the WON BASS teams tournament program. Tournament fishing with your partner is fun and it's the quickest way to become a better bass angler. You can win money, get lucky and win prizes in our various sponsor raffles, and it's a great way to get involved in the great sport of competitive bass fishing.
In addition to the Pro Circuit, WON BASS serves Western fishermen with 14 team tournament regions all fishing for cash and prizes in their local regions, with one eye on the WON BASS Team Championships at the end of the 7-tournament season.
These team events are open to all caliber and gender of bass anglers from age 16 and up. This is not just a hard-core legion of old-time bass anglers, although some of the very best anglers in the entire world have cut their teeth fishing WON BASS team events. It's a family affair. There are teams comprised of father-son, father-daughter, mother-son, husband-wife, father-daughter, etc. If you like to fish competitively and have fun, too, maybe the team tournament circuit in your local area is the perfect answer. Each region features 7 or 5 tournaments and offers anglers a great chance to qualify for the WON BASS TRI-STATES TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Each region will offer the same entry fee. Team entry is $150 per team, with an additional $15 Lake/Permit/Insurance fee. Total entry is $165. All regions will offer 100% payout options, and each region may very in their option choices. Payouts are always 1 in 5. Won Bass will hold $15 from each entry at all regions for year-end TOC reserve payouts.
Qualifications for TOC Invitations: In total, 35 percent of the entire WON Bass Team’s participants will qualify for a WON Bass Team Championship birth, based on year end standings within each region. Each region will host 7 or 5 Tournaments. All 7 or all-5 events will be used in the qualification process for a TOC invitation. Additionally, WON Bass will be inviting any Team that fishes a total of 7 events in any one region, or multiple regions within the 2011-2012 season. Teams that fish multiple regions will be called WONderers. WONderers will not qualify for a separate AOY title.
End of the season regional qualifier calculations are made as follows:
35 percent of the average season's participation will qualify for the end
of year team championships from the year-end standings in that region.
Average season participation is calculated by taking the total numbers of
teams that fished in a region during the season and dividing this number by
the total number of tournaments in that region. This number is then multiplied
by 35 percent.
WON BASS wants to include as many anglers as possible so fractional
numbers are rounded up.
Additionally, WON BASS will take 15 percent of the average season participation
at the final tournament of the season for that angler's home
region. To qualify via the final tournament, you must have fished at least 4
out of the 7 tournaments in your home region offering 7 events, or 3 out of 5 in a home region offering 5 events.
Qualifications for Angler of the Year: The team accumulating the most points in their respective 7 or 5 series region’s after the dropped tournaments will become Regional Anglers-of-The-Year. Regions offering 7 events will be best 5 out of 7, and regions offering 5 events will be best 4 out of 5 events. All AOY awards will only be awarded at the TOC event. AOY’s will earn year-end sponsored prize packages. Won Bass no longer offers comps for regional AOY’s or Staff boats. Comp certificates will only be reserved for Club AOY’s and BBT graduates.
2011 – 2012 Won Bass Toc information: Won Bass will be offering 2 (two) TOC’s for the 2011 – 2012 Team Season. There will be a North TOC at Clear Lake on November 17th and 18th 2012 for those anglers qualifying in the Northern Regions. There will be a South TOC at Lake Mead on September 22nd and 23rd 2012 for those teams qualifying in the Southern Regions. Teams may qualify and attend both regional TOC’s if such team qualifies either in the Top 35% of any opposing ( North/South) regions. Additionally, Won Bass will offer a “Won Teams Border Crosser” qualification option for both TOC’s. This option will also qualify any team that attends 7 events in a/any North or South regions, and additionally attends at least 4 events in the opposing North or South regions. Each TOC will award reserve money only for those border regions exclusively.
Fishing Solo: Regional Directors are requested to take every step possible to assist a solo fisherman to find a partner in the event that a team member cannot fish. Your replacement angler cannot earn the tournament points. Points are only awarded to the original team roster. Should a replacement not be available, the fisherman may fish solo, but they can only have 3 solo events throughout the season in any single region offering 7 events. A team must fish a total of 4 events as a team (2 people) to qualify for the year-end TOC. In regions that only offer 5 tournaments, you must fish with your partner in at least 3 events to qualify, and may only fish 2 events solo. Solo anglers may be subject to FULL boat inspection, and or placed with an observer at tournament staff discretion

All regions will be accepted including the Casitas Nights events. Those dates will be released very shortly as we finalize all the permits. The only events not qualifying are the two DVL night events!

Thanks for the info Billy.
I understand the DVL nights do not count towards the points, do they count towards a teams 7 total tournaments fished to qualify for the TOC?

Re: 2011 – 2012 WON BASS TEAMS GUIDELINES
Just wanted to re-post this information one more time, as the end of the teams season is coming upon us. This was originally posted back in January of this year!
If you are counting on making the TOC in your region based on the "FISH ANY 7 EVENTS" rule.... Please make sure to send us an e-mail showing us the events that you fished to qualify under that rule. We are trying to keep track as good as we can, but I don not want anyone not getting left out. Send us your list of events to our wonbass@wonews.com e-mail address.
