Wakebaits...Whats your go to bait

Post by Matt Moreau »

Its just about that time to dust off the ole wakebaits. Just wondering what is everyones favorite or go to wakebait. For me its hard to beat a Wake Jr!

I catch a lot of fish on a 7in AC Minnow. I modify them a bit of course.

My fav is still the 3:16 Wake Bait Jr

This is part of the reason why:

The first fish I caught on one... there have been many more, just none quite as big (although I broke  a bigger one off 5 days after catching this one - I was lucky and got my bait back 8) )

I took an old bicycle chain and rigged 7 lunker punkers on it but only three had hooks. The first time I threw it one of the hooks caught on my partners shorts and I broke my arm and he lost his member. That rig has now been banned from all tournaments.

You should name that creation "The Chain Gang " so there is no confusion with the "A-rig".

Anything 8" or bigger if theres a ripple on the water. If your gonna throw a wakebait might as well do it right! 7" slammers are good for the glass days. My new thing is a big rat! Almost looks like an otter!   8)
is that glitter!? Nice boat tinkerbell!

I am a bit surprised at all of slammer finatics. I cant lie I own 5 of them.... Guess I just figured there are better baits out there that everyone has tried.

I wish I could get a baby wake or armegedon.... the Jr's are just amazing!
