bassfishingarchives.com is awesome!!

Post by Gary Dobyns »

This site shows the sport 30-40+ years ago. Terry Battisti has worked long and hard on this and it shows. I know the old guys will love it, I hope the newer, younger crowd will see who built the sport so many years ago.

The fact Terry gives the western guys some love is awesome!!

Great job Terry!!

Yep--I especially love the photo of Dee Thomas drinking a Coors after his 1974 Nacimiento win (and the little Gregor in the background that he and his partner fished out of). Great reprinted article on modifying his long pole technique too!

Bass fishing is too evolved these days--too much flash, too much fakeness, too extreme this and too extreme that. Love the low key feel and informality that the old photos convey from the golden age of the sport...

I agree Gary!

This is great stuff! Terri your on it, great timing to keep things in prospective and see where our roots came from. These guys have done some things of significance and should be recognized for all they have done! 40 years ago some guys had a dream just like we all do!

I bet there are some great archives at the club level that would be fun to share!
What are people going to be talking about 40 years from now? Hope its not closing the delta and quaggas! Hope its more innovation, like the a-rig, lunker punkers, chris zaldain being #1 in the world for 10 straight years, or Richard Dobyns winning 4 straight FLW Championships!

Dee looks great!

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the kudos. It's been a lot of fun and work but I think it's all worth it in the end. Jimmy, I've thought about the club thing and it's going to be done. :-)

Regarding the Dee pic, I wonder if he and Frank coordinated their beer cans for the pic?

As for you KB, you knew better than to send me those pics. All's fair game now buddy!

Thanks Gary for the post and thanks fish_food fr the kind words.
